You guys kill me. Rex has taken us to 2 afc championship games and his entire tenure he has had a bottom 5 QB. He has had complete crap at the most important position on the field. If we fire him he would end up with the pats and i do not want to face the future of brady and a rex ryan defense. He is not totally blameless for his record but he is and should stay as head coach of the new york jets. This team cannot go forward by constantly changing coaches. Also if we fire him we would be blowing up the entire team and from what i see at least the defense is one of the best in the NFL.

Football is a game of "what have you done for me lately", and all Rex has done during his tenure is take away playmakers from the offense and add to the defense.
Stop with the talk of those AFC championship games, that's the past. Since then all we've done is get worse in each of the past 3 seasons.

I don't want to see someone new come in and install a new defense. Not really thrilled with Rex, but I'd like to build on what it is he does best, because he does it very well. I'd like to see if we eventually get one of those defenses that teams are just completely scared shitless of playing. That would be fun to watch.

Are you referring to Idzik? Of course he was picked by Woody. Who the hell else should make the decision to hire him? YOU?

I'm not convinced that Rex is the guy but I'm not convinced he isn't. People can say "he" took away the playmakers but he wasn't making the draft picks or signing the FA's. Does that also mean he traded away our best defensive player a possible HOF CB?

Let's be honest, this team didn't really have any offensive playmakers when he took over. Yes the FO allowed some players to walk or retire but we didn't really have any star offensive players in the mold of a Megatron or Adrian Peterson, he had to start fresh with a new QB. Now you can blame the FO for not building an offense around Mark by wasting picks and giving them up but Rex can't take the blame for the poor job that Tanny did by trying to build this team.

While I agree, he is at least giving his opinion in a non attacking way... Let's look at the bills for a second

    Drafting

    Spiller
    Manual
    Woods
    Wood
    Graham
    Darius
    Kiko
    Gilmore

    FA
    Williams
    Lawson
    Hughes

Honestly, if the Jets had Half, Half the result the Bills had in the past 3 years they would be...a wildcard team at best. But the front office has had server issues. The head coach can only do some much with the talent given...

That said, Rex's major issue is he is a defensive minded coach. He does have input on draft day. Ultimately, he has some copability for the lack of results on the offensive side if the ball as he continually want defensive players. Guy is digging his own grave...

While he might have some input it's ultimately the GM who pull the trigger. Rex has to understand that ignoring the offense is only sabatoging his own job. I don't believe Rex is that stupid.

Of course I could be wrong, but if he's "snatched up fast" by another team, I think it will be as a DC not a HC. I'm not sure he gets another chance as a HC. If he does get another HC gig, I expect him to overachieve for a year or two here then things to head downhill again. In terms of Rex's career as a HC, I think the worst thing in the world would be for him to get another HC job immediately. I think he needs to spend some more time reflecting and learning from another HC. There are aspects to leading a team that Rex just does not seem to understand.

I think the reason that Rex didn't get a HC gig before is because of his mouth. He's a loose cannon. The only reason he toned it down this year is because his job was on the line and Idzik wouldn't tolerate it. I think that most owners and GMs avoid those types like the plague. If he is fired, then those owners and GMs have ample evidence to see his glaring weaknesses as a HC: that he's a player's coach, is undisciplined and doesn't hold players accountable; that he doesn't understand anything about offense or today's NFL; and that he tends to get too conservative and passive offensively when games get tight. For someone who's supposed to be such a great motivator, his teams all too often fail to show up or show up flat.

I think the reason the offense has fallen off a cliff is that once a playoff spot became a possibility, Rex went into his typical conservative, passive shell of playing "not to lose" and thus ordered Mornhinweg to run the ball more and not give Geno chances to throw picks. Not only has he once again shot himself (and the team) in the foot, but he's holding back the development of Geno.

In terms of having the worst QB in the league, I think Rex is largely responsible for that since he doesn't understand anything about offense and doesn't know how to handle QBs. Sanchez may have never developed into a quality QB anywhere, but I definitely think he would have been a lot better had he been drafted by another team whose HC knows how to handle QBs. Geno was rushed onto the field too soon, then with a playoff birth on the line and Geno struggling, Rex went into his shell again and shut down the offense, returning to ground and pound.

I really liked Rex at first and thought the Jets had finally found the right guy to coach the team, but it's clear now that he just doesn't get it and the team will never even beat Baltimore, much less get to or win a SB as long as Rex is HC. He must go.

  13. Rex has been on record many times over stating that he believes in Ozzie Newsome's draft strategy via Baltimore: Take the best player regardless of position.

Now that said..is he likely much more involved w/ the defensive player evaluations & more dismissive of offensive? That's likely safe to assume.

The jets problems on offense have existed long before Rex.They seem to fear the drafting of skill players especially wide receivers. We haven't seen a dependable passing offense over 16 weeks arguably since Vinny. That's pretty pitiful.

    Rex is that stupid.

Just like Herm he is ignoring the offense in general and the offensive line in particular to the detriment of the team.

Rex was the man when Tanny was here and Rex is the man now with Izdick.

Rex is picking the groceries and should be held responsible if they turn out to be rotten.

Some of these posts about Rex taking players away from the offense and Rex neglecting the offense during the draft are just dumb. Dumb.

If an 18 year old asked their mother for a couple beers in the fridge and the Mother gave in and said "Ok."

Who would be blamed in this scenario?

That's right! The Mother. She should know better. She's the boss, the decision maker, and the person with the final say. Someone that is supposed to only make decisions based on the best interest of her child.

Mr. T and Idzik are the guys that should know better. They have final say, they control the roster, they control final cuts.

That is not a reflection on Rex, even of they did grant Rex's wishes. He's the head coach and wants what his eyes desire. GMs can't have that mindset and they damn well should know better.

You must be a Jets insider, eh? You got the inside scoop do ya? You know that for a fact?

If you are trying to compare Herm to Rex, I think you might need to do some research or something. That's just crazy if I'm reading your post right.

Yes and no, I don't think you can blame Rex that we wasted a 2nd round pick on a guy who can't even get on the field in Vlad Ducasse. I also don't know if you can blame him for Stephen Hill being a bust. I do think you can blame Rex for trading away Leon Washington and having a hard on for John Connor. Now if you want to bag on him with the waste of space that is Kyle Wilson or our 3rd round pick Kendrick Ellis is being outplayed an UDFA that is fine but most of the defensive picks have been fairly decent.

I also don't think it's Rex's fault that we were forced to trade Revis rendering our secondary to below average.

I just want to know where to get the information from that will make me, too an expert on the inner workings of the Jets organization. It's amazing how certain people here know who is calling each and every shot and balancing the budget at the same time.

Yup you're absolutely right. Rex has zero influence on who the Jets draft or bring in as a FA. I mean, John Conner, Trevor Pryce, Ed Reed, Dawan Laundry were all great moves by the GM.... Shale a continue?

I'm no Sherlock Holmes, obviously either are you, but to say Rex isn't making some personnel decisions is ludicrous. And guess what, I don't need any insider information to decipher that, it's called common fucking sense friend. Good day sir

The problem with "common fucking sense", pal, is that it obviously is not common enough. Ryan certainly provides input into personnel matters, but he certainly isn't making hiring decisions singlehandedly. Sorry to burst your know-it-all bubble.
