Why are The Jets as an orginization always looking for scapegoats .Mr.T got fired after his first losing season in 7 years .Shotty was the scapegoat during 8-8 season Sanchezs numbers havent been the same since.Sparano was the Scapegoat last season ,after a good start Marty M looks exactly like Sparano out there. Why cant this orginazation just stick with something and stay with it.Who will be this years scapegoat?I fear it will be Rex
Totally agree with this. The Jets try to appease the whiny cry babys way to much. Im still a Rex beliver he had us at 5-4 with smoke and mirrors.Idzik wont be fired not after one season .So that leaves Rex in a bad spot.Idzik needs to fix the offense this offseason or his carrer as GM will be shortlived
says the guy that thinks BP was a great GM type and a guy afraid to debate me. If you don't think fans have an impact then you have no clue. Fans shouldn't have an impact but trust me w/ Woody they do. None did unless you count Herm who knew his days were numbered here anyway but how would a Giants fan remember that anyway?
Tannenbaum got fired for Vlad Duccasse, Stephen Hill and the Sanchez extension if you want to drill it down to something. But him and Rex together could never be a long term solution. Too many short sighted decisions. We had a fun ride back in 09/10- but the short term success blinded them from building a football team the proper way.
So instead of blaming the guy who is in his 5th year and on his way to a 3rd season without a winning record, you choose to blame the guy who hasn't even been employed with the organization for a calendar year yet? I'm not saying Idzik is the future or not, I just find it odd that a guy like you who endlessly preaches patience is already on record about the new GM, 9 Months into his tenure. He has had his hands in FAR,FAR less of this roster than his predecessor and Rex Ryan.
Bill Parcells rescued the franchise. Whether he was a good GM or not is beside the point. I was just about ready to give up on the Jets in late 1996. I was sleeping through the second half of games on my couch in a beer-induced stupor because the team just stunk to the high heavens. Another season like 95 and 96 probably would have seen me done with football. That's why for all his faults I still am grateful to Parcells for taking a job he didn't really want in the first place and going as far with it as he could. It takes somebody living in an alternate reality to not understand that going from 3-13, 1-15 to 9-7, 12-4 AFC Championship game took an incredible amount of personnel acumen in the process, even if the draft picks were only so-so in the end.
Tannebaum was a sub par GM. The contracts to Sanchez and Holmes were enough to fire him but he had to pile on with Vlad Ducausse, Stephen Hill, Kyle Wilson, trading up and throwing away valuable depth draft picks. Idzik has to clear up Mike T's mess first before moving forward.
What is he supposed to do in one year? One thing is that the Jets better start focusing on offense in the draft. People may say that the secondary is junk and maybe it isn't that good, but being on the field for 75% of the game doesn't help matters either. If you notice, the Jets D was doing much better when the offense was doing decent.
Rex has done an amazing job the last 2 years, the record may not show it but w/ what he has had to work with it has been amazing. I really don't want Idzik fired but he has done a terrible job through his first year. Parcells changed the culture, he walked into a young team loaded w/ talent that needed a real coach. BP is an all time great coach, he's a terrible GM type. I am grateful to BP for rescuing us too but I hate that a)he quit on us and b) he cost us Belichick and in turn Brady and SBs. every GM has hits and misses, he brought some potential HOFers to this organization through the draft- when is the last time we could say that? the cap was easily cleaned up and would have been w/ Mike and we'd have had more talent around the QB and Sanchez starting which would have led to 2-3-4 more wins.
For some odd reason junc dislikes Parcells. what he did with what he inherited was a minor miracle. He took our Jets from the depths of despair to the AFC title game.
I LOVE Parcells, one of my all time favorites in football. I appreciate how he changed the culture of this franchise but I am allowed to be honest, right? he did a terrible job in the draft, he left us before he finished the job, left us in cap hell, cost us BB(and in turn Brady and SBs) and gave us Al Groh.
BB cost us BB because he was mentally soft and refused to accept the challenge of following Parcells. Go back to the day he resigned, he was a bumbling stumbling fool.
I'm not sure that will happen. Especially since he is the anchor or an offense which hasnt been good for a long while. Its my opinion that OL and a lot of defensive players from this era will start having a hard time getting in this era of the glamour QB and WR types sprinkled in with the occassional RB
