GM's that fire people after the first year of a rebuilding project give up a lot of rope in the process. If I'm John Idzik I do my best to keep the coaching staff around for another year. That gives things more time to jell and it also gives Idzik more time to get things sorted out. By the end of 2014 he'll know if the coaches are part of the problem.
walk through florham park naked. shoot golf balls from my office. fight the roving packs of rabid dogs. I am legend.
Agreed. There's almost always a scapegoat, but you can't get rid of all potential scapegoats at once.
I suppose that means not letting go of Rex unless he's SURE he's found somebody better? which I guess is whats due to happen anyhow...
This is an interesting proposal, out of all the available coaches and with Kevin Sumlin being extended I'd take a look at a Shaw or Jay Gruden, sign a Jason Campbell or Brian Hoyer and draft AJ McCarron if he's available for us or Murray later on depending on his injury progress. Zach Mettenberger and Mariota are also extremely interesting prospects depending on where we pick and who's coaching them for us.
I don't think having Rex/a defensive minded coach is the problem. The problem is that the team never drafts for offense. The only non-QB offensive high round draft pick the Jets have chosen in recent memory is Stephen Hill. So it really shouldn't come as a surprise that the offense sucks. When most of your skill position players are just some guys, it doesn't really matter who the head coach is... you're gonna have a bad time.
I think we just need better talent scouts. our team doesn't have a clue of what they are doing when it comes to drafting offense. I would like to have a new HC, but if Rex ends up staying you won't hear a complaint from me.
We definitely need better talent evaluation. This team has drafted about 5 good players since 2007. It has drafted horribly on the offensive side of the ball.
Yeah I'd like to see one more year with this coaching staff. The key differences with everything else intact for 2014 will still be huge - cap room and talent evaluation from Idzik's people, not Tanny's leftovers.
The problem is the one that deserves to go is Idzik. If Idzik didn't do such a terrible job we'd be much better. rex has very little talent to work with.
Isn't it? the folks that blames sanchez, now want Rex gone. we had a good GM, our biggest issue was the cap and it was easily cleaned up. Idzik made an easy trade for Revis, overpaid for Ivory, gave us Geno and banished Sanchez and has one good pick so far. He's done a brutal job.
No, it's people like you that make this franchise look like a joke. He hasn't even been here a year yet and you want him fired already? For what? Because he took a gamble with a second round QB? Because he took Ivory in exchange for a 4th round pick? Let's just completely overlook the possible defensive rookie of the year we got in exchange for Revis. Again, the lack of knowledge around here amazes me. Not even a year, and you're calling for Idziks head lmao that's hilarious
No it's people like you that want a new HC and QB every year that give us the losing we deserve. I am frustrated, I really don't want Idzik fired but if the choice is rex or Idzik I know we have a really good coach so i'd side w/ him. Tannebaum never should have been fired in the first place, it's whiny fans like you that got him booted.
Junc lives in an alternate reality. It's pretty clear if you look at his posting record and he has more than enough evidence accumulated at this point to back the charge up.
