So you want to air it out with Geno behind center? What do you want Marty to do? Have Geno throw 40 passes a game? I really don't understand your aversion to the run in our case it's the ONLY piece of the offense remotely working. When your QB is as bad as ours it severely limits what an OC can do. Until Marty gets a serviceable QB I'll withhold any judgment from his game planning and offense.
Honestly I don't feel like the coaches are at fault.. Our Receivers suck, they seriously are the worst receivers I've ever seen. They can't catch anything out there.. I wouldn't be so quick to throw Geno under the bus. -We need 2 solid corners in the off season, and our defense will be top 5 overall for sure. - We need a star receiver, and a good #2. Kerley is a solid #3. Holmes is too injury prone and they need to cut Hill. - Choose Ivory or Powell to keep as a good #2. The other one needs to talk a walk. I would personally keep Powell and draft a running back if there's any good ones around. - Get Winslow out of here and Cumberland can be a solid #1 TE. - Our D-Line is beast, and with 2 good corners we'll be top notch. - Our O-Line is good enough to get the job done. - Geno with good receivers and a good running game that is consistent will be just fine. They pass defense can't stop anything and that doesn't help a rookie have to play from behind.
My question is how much worse can we do if we let go of Rex? We are never going to beat NE for the division. This years draft will be filled with more defensive picks. We are in an offensive minded league. Name one all defense no offense team that can play with the top tier teams. Not any, including us by a lot
Cumberland isn't even close to being a #1 TE, he's a 2 or 3 at best. As for the topic, starting to think it might be better to find a proven offensive head coach, that is knowledgeable in all 3 facets. A disciplinarian as well. I don't know ...
Who is "knowledgeable in all 3 facets"? Mike McCarthy? No. Sean Payton. No. The Harbaughs? No. Belichick is the only guy you can even speculate fits that description and he doesn't call his plays and is working with a HOF QB. Sick of hearing about these supposed gurus who don't specialize.
Rex knows nothing about offense, we need someone that can at least help in some facet in all 3 departments. John Harbaugh can, and always did. Rex in 5 years hasn't learned a God damn thing - I love Rex - I want him to be our HC - but I don't see the growth. He's not getting better, he's not getting worse either.
How can anyone look at our QB and receiving corps and think Rex is the problem? The defense is playing their asses off, Marty is a good OC but he literally has by far the worst QB in the NFL and it's not even close. The problem is the QB, fix that and everything falls in line. Under Rex the Jets are a top 10 defense, probably top 5, no way I let that go. Let the OC run the offense, let a competent GM draft a QB that isn't horrific. Rex isn't the problem at all. If the Jets fired Rex he would be unemployed for maybe a day.
The offense was playing like shit, and Rex was on the sidelines talking to the defense. Like c'mon he should be trying to get this offense fired up somehow. His beloved defense it's all he cares about.
Ok what does he do for his defence? Dean Pees calls the plays. Would love to know what Harbaugh brings to the table there and some concrete evidence. I noticed you did not speculate as to what Super Bowl winning HCs McCarthy and Payton do for their defences.
Not a gigantic fan of the constant coaching turnover plan that seems to be popular with jet fans. People don't realize how untalented our offense is. Lets focus FA and the draft on fixing on the offense and then just go trying to find a coach.
In order to be a defensive guru one must know a little about offense. He doesn't teach offense, no, but that's what an OC is for. Whether its better to have an offensive or defensive HC is a separate argument. But ours not running the offense is the same as Sean Payton doing minimal for his D.
I don't know if or what he does with the defense in Baltimore right now. I think hes capable of handling it though. He.was a special teams coach which gives you a unique perspective on both sides of the ball.
Yeah, so welcome to the club of speculation. He has a SB victory to validate his place as an HC. What exactly he does for his offenses and defences is unknown, just like 31 other coaches. One thing I do know for sure is John Harbaugh inherited a fucking talented team.
John Harbaugh was a Defensive Back, a Defensive Backs coach, an OLBs coach a TEs coach and a special teams coach during his career. Hecan manage both offense and defense.
I dont get the attitude, but whatever. John Harbaugh is more than capable to manage both the offensive and defense
And for the record, I said I think John Harbaugh can manage both offense and defense. I never said anything definitive. So get off your high horse Jake.
