Sign the MAN,,, Pay the MAN. This team is now just a few FEW pieces away from destroying teams. Next Draft will be just as HUGE as this one. If we can get TWO big time receivers for Geno. LOOK OUT. BUT it all starts with Rex. Sign the MAN,, Pay the MAN.
    GO JETS

The question is would he have started mark if healthy? If yes then he still doesn't get it and should not be considered. If no, then he should by all means remain our DC.

    1. Who cares

    2. STFU about Mark

    3. He's not a DC, he's a HC.

    4. STFU about Mark

If Mark was going to start they wouldn't have put him in during garbage time of the third pre-season game. I think it was pretty clear Mark wasn't going to start for the Jets this year when they didn't hand him the job in TC when we were installing a new O with a new OC.

If that was the case, then Rex should be extended. The history shown by Rex is suspect regarding loyalty to a fault though.

Mornhinweg coming to the Jets is what saved his job.

Rex is a great defensive mind and turning the offense over to a competent OC was what he needed.
Our Gm, if MM was his hire, saved the day for Rex.

I was a big proponent for showing Rex the door but with Mornhinweg coming on this season paired with Rex it just works.
I'm all for continuity and would love to see Rex extended.

Aside from the avid dark siders and trolls that thrive off our struggles, did anyone actually believe Ryan was a "lame duck" coach? The only people that said that nonsense where espn beat writers and Manish. That was the catch phrase of the off season for those clowns. 3-4 wins tops, Rex fired. If you didn't say something close to that, people laughed at you, so everyone went around repeating that silly myth, even Giants fans. It really shows how idiotic those sensationalists were, and shame on NY media for bashing them the way they did and perpetuating a falsehood, that anyone who actually follows the team knew was false (except the depressed darksiders who expect everything to always go wrong). They pretty much lost all credibility. They are parasites, nothing more. Fuck the NY media. Rex Ryan is a saint for allowing the likes of Michael Kay to interview him each week, despite talking down to him. If I were Rex, I would have told Kay to go fuck himself the 3rd time he brought up "40 point blowout" during the interview AFTER the Saints game. Woody should boycott them all, not just Francesa. Even Kay's interview with Coples after the Bengals game, was nothing more than repeating "40 point blowout" over an over.

"So, how do you move past a 40 point blowout?"

"So, how did it feel after losing by 40 points?"

"So how do you rebound from this 40 point blowout?"

"So what did Rex do after the 40 point loss to help the team?"

Those dudes have NO clue about asking relevant questions. Not a single question about his change in position, how his recovery is going, how the ankle feels or how he's fitting in up front. Just sensationalist emotional drama, where he pretty much has to answer the same question 5 times.

It's like the QB questions every press conference in the pre season:

"So have you decided on a QB?"

    No

"So do you know when the decision is going to be made"

When we're ready to make it and feel comfortable

"Well don't you feel it's getting close to the season and it needs to be done soon?"

No. When we're ready to make the decision we will.

"So can you say whether you will know by game 4?"

    SHUT THE FUCK UP!

I used to like Kay, but he's quickly becoming one of the biggest dickheads on the air. It's even worse when he talks about Melo. I hope that guy fucking falls down the stairs and breaks every bone in his body, only to live the rest of his life eating through a tube and watching the Jets & Knicks win multiple titles.

    Yeah I took it there.

I said at the start of the season I hope we eeked out 6 or 7 wins..or whatever would be enough to keep Rex in his job. He's a fantastic coach, and will be successful for someone else if we let him go. We're obviously doing better than expected but I just pray that Idzik and Woody realise how much of an impact he's having on this team.

Marty was hired by Rex before Woody had decided on Idzik as the new GM.

Generally, it seems that the coaching staff is put together by the HC, not the GM. If we can keep Marty and Rex together for years to come; we should be a very good team for a long time

After Marty's experience in Detroit, we have to hope no one is willing to give him another HC opportunity and that he wants to see this NYJ offense grow and be his own

I hope they can his ass, maybe he'd stay on as DC, an coach that pledges his support to Sanchez for 4 years, an if not for injury would be 5, Geno isn't much of a upgrade either, id rather have a coach whose fluent in offense an defense

This is an asinine comment from start to finish...

Can you please name us a coach who is "fluent in offense and defense" that will be available and an upgrade over Rex?

Give him Brady in his prime and a handful of the other team's signals and I guarantee he surpasses that sourpuss' win totals...

you are mistaking loyalty for a desperatley thin roster that had 3rd -4th string players backing up aging starters. its not loyalty its using the what you have.

There is no one else I'd want as coach. He always has a great defense (when did we have that before?) and having Marty handling the offense is fine. No matter what happens the rest of the way, they'd be nuts to change the staff. Nuts.

What does Mike McCarthy do for Green Bay's defense?

What does Sean Payton do for New Orlean's defense?

What did Tony Dungy do for Indy's offense?

What did Bill Cowher do for Pittsburgh's offense?

What did Jon Gruden do for Tampa's defense?
