i thought for sure that brad smith was in for something other than his height. and what does inactive mean and why was clemens on it?
yea but doesnt it mean they didnt even suit up? because houston should have came in if he was only third string.
His record against NE is 1-4. He led us to a win in 2002, he lost the 2nd NE game of '03, both NE games in '04 and yesterday's game- he didn't play in either NE game last year.
The Coles throw opening day was 55 or so yard in the air. Not to mention the TD to Moss in the playoffs against San Diego was about 60 yards in the air...WITH A TORN ROTATOR CUFF! shut up
He beat them at their place in 2002, and yes, they weren't the same team then, but he's not 0-7. Why make up something like that?
The Int was only apparently under-thrown because at least 3 DB's for NE are lined up 25 to 30 yards down field. Even the Jets can not disguise the obvious. Chad is the least of my worries right now. His performance will definitely give us opportunities at victory this year. The defensive line worries me.[ We are not there yet in terms of stopping the run. Our O line still may be a bit under-sized. Our lack-luster running performance is a clear indicator that the O-line still may be an issue, but not nearly as big an issue as last year.
If the only thing you can pick on is a Hail Mary INT, then Chad had a good game. Not great, but against the premier defense in the league he did well. Most importantly, he dealt with the rush and the blitz well, avoided a lot of sacks and withstood a lot of hard hits. Aside from the last play, he didn't turn the ball over and had no running game to back him up.
I don't think it mattered who our QB was at that point. Down 7 point, 15 seconds left, no timeouts, and 60 yards to go. The defense is obviously defending the deep ball and the sidelines. I would bet that if you looked at the statistics of such situations, the percentage of tying the game is less that 10%. You're pretty much left to throw up a prayer or do some crazy trick play with a bunch of latterals. The 2 previous plays where we threw over the middle were the problem IMO - I don't know if this was called by the OC or if it was just Chad's decision, it doesn't really matter. If you're going to throw over the middle in that situation, you HAVE to go DEEP MIDDLE - at least 25 yards down field, not 8 - 15 yards down field, and not twice in a row. As far as the hail mary attempt, I would have preferred to see a latteral fest given our strengths/weaknesses on offense but the probability of that suceeding is probably just as low as the hail mary. The fact that the coaching staff made the adjustments to even give us a chance at the end is something we can be happy about.
Agreed, if that pass were automatic, then they would not refer to it as a "Hail Mary" pass. Even with a Faavre-like arm the ball could have still easily been intercepted.
Favre intercepted? When does that ever happen? If Chad had thrown that ball Favre underthrew in the playoffs vs Philly to end a season, people here would still be bitching about it. Yet somehow Favre still has people bowing before him.
I'm getting so sick of you, it was a hail mary the Pats had 9 men back there to pick that off. Get a life.....
I ask you: WHY do we HAVE to establish the run?? If the Air attack is so vastly superior to the run (And it clearly is at this point), then why does the run have to be "established"?? Why not build an offensive attack based upon short passes, instead of handing off? A guy like Larry Centers made a career ouf of this, and under the right situations, it might work. Think about how many times the Jets have used a 2-back formation out of the shot gun, with Chad throwing the HB screen for 6-8 yards. I am not saying that the Jets should "abandon" the run, but build an attack based primarily with passing, and utilizing the run in key situations.
Ugh, this has to stop. There's nothing wrong with his arm, and that's still not what makes him a good quarterback. I can throw a football over 50 yards, doesn't mean for a second I can be an NFL quarterback, let alone one as good as Chad.
Because it's the NFL and not Madden. Even when Houston was running the Run and Shoot in its heyday they still ran the ball 20 times a game.
Chad can throw more than 50 yards easily... That wasn't really even a hail mary. I don't really know what that was. It looked like a deep flag route to get them closer. Chad has been a top 5 QB in football so far this year. I doubt he'll stay that good or stay healthy, but he has been awesome for the first 2 games.
