Rex has been on a steep learning curve. That being said, the entire Sanchez Tat, WWE middle finger, not paying attention to the Qb play during a game can be excused. Rex, just like Sanchez, has been on a learning curve. Fortunately for the Jets, Rex is learning at a faster rate than Hairband. You can thank Idzik for Rex's maturation as a HC. Rex has learned how to handle the NY media and please his boss and at the same time, get results from his depleted roster.
You Sir, are in danger of becoming known as a Homer. While that may play well with a lot of the younger posters here, in the long run being the eternal cheerleader will come at a price. While there are plenty career homers around, you might want to consider being marginally non biased.
I don't know about firing Rex, changing coaches every 3 to 5 years hasn't worked well, the last long tenured coach this team had was Joe Walton, who I couldn't stand, standing on the sidelines holding his clipboard picking his nose. I could see woody firing Rex, then the patriots hiring him as there DC, that would be a nightmare.
Although I think it was always unlikely that Rex was going to be fired, I really don't think that is going to happen now Francessa has said 2x in two days that they're not going to fire a defensive coach if all their current best players are on defense. If this was just his opinion I wouldn't give it much credence, but this sounds like someone else's words, which gives it more credibility
Ordinarily I would agree with you, but when he was talking w/Nance yesterday, the conversation had an "insider's ring" to it, which leads me to believe its out there from more reliable sources.
Guys, It's quite simple. You don't win in the NFL changing coaches every 4 years. Rex has a + .500 record as a coach of the Jets and has had one of the better defensive teams in the league each year he has been the HC. You still need defense to win games in the NFL. I fully expect Rex to be the HC of this team for another 5 years. And yes, I am happy about that. The problem with this team throughout Rex's tenure has been complete offensive ineptitude, due to shit QB play (Sanchez) shit OC's (Shotty, Sparano) and no playmakers whatsoever. Bottom line, Rex is going to be here for a long time, deal with it, and get used to it.
it depends on if the teams tanks...they could be 3-6 at the bye...with tough games against baltimore and carolina coming up...plus buff/mia is never easy as is cleve and oak...its not a given he'll be here next year...

It wouldn't make sense to fire Rex unless the team tanks. If we maintain our approximately .500 level play, I don't see why Rex would be shown the door.
It's hard to consistently win with such a garbage depth chart. Being at 3-3 right now, I still think it's been a good coaching job.
We probably have as many 1st and 2nd round players sprinkled throughout our lineup as almost any team in football. I'm not for firing Rex but the Steelers didn't have better personal then us yesterday. They had a decidedly better game plan and execution of that game plan. Granted they had an extra week to prepare but we were decidedly outcoached yesterday.
Dick LeBeau a hall of fame DC with an extra week to prepare against a rookie QB. Plus the Jets having a short week to prepare. I guess that is being out coached.
They have a HOF QB and 14 days to prep against a rookie QB with D Lebeau as DC. That's an incredible advantage imo. I'm not surprised at all we lost this one.
I am surprised the play calling was so abysmal throughout the entire game after being so good on Monday night. With the plays they were calling in the second half you would think we were up by 21.
agreed. In the first half our OC did little to help GENO establish rhythm. The first 5 plays were run plays. Possibly we were too conservative on offense and limited Geno from doing what he does best. He really only had one deep shot all game.
