Vaccaro istead of milliner would have been amazing best safety on the board and Nfl Ready , and no injury past.
I don't have or 'do' Twitter. Could someone who "tweets" maybe remind flip-flopping Kiper about his "glorified expansion team" comment?
add we got our starting FB of the future, starting LG of the future and if (big if) Millner comes around starting CB and thats a hell of a draft.
"Rev-my-friend", U nailed it EXACTLY!!! I said the same, d@mn thing when I heard him state this! I remember listening to ESPN's M.Kay & D.LaGreca 98.7 broadcast earlier this year when "Smelly Diaper" Kiper made this statement after Kay asked him his opinion on what he thinks of the Jets. For the next 2 weeks or so, Kay & LaGreca constantly ran with this "line" throwing it out there almost every time a caller asked their take on 2013 Jet season but making sure to credit "SH#TTY DIAPER" Kiper.
In retrospect, Milliner was an unnecessarily risky pick but I understand trying to get who they felt was the best defensive player in the draft. Also, keep in mind this guy didn't have ANY training camp. Its a ttttallll order for a corner to come in with no training camp in the NFL as a rookie and contribute right away. Next year will be more telling for him.
Still wish we took Kenny Vaccaro, as we did lose both safeties and it was a big need to replace. yes we lost Revis but we still had Cro. imagine the draft if we took him... would be up there as one of the best drafts in Jets history !
Ok so essentially if they redid the draft tomorrow, we would have selected the top overall player and then also the 5th best player in the entire draft (and also Dee Milner). I can't really complain with that. If Milner pans out to be an above average starting corner or even a very good number 2 CB, and Geno continues to grow and learn from his mistakes, Idzik's first draft might go down as one of the Jets best drafts in history. I know it's super early to be making these kinds of statements, so I understand a lot has to go right for a bunch if players for this to happen As of right now (again, I know it's super early) but it definitely seems like this was our best draft since 2006 (Brick, Mangold, Brad Smith, Eric Smith, Leon Washington, and Drew Coleman)
Oh yeah, wasn't it Kiper who was hating on the Richardson pick when we drafted him? Saying he wasn't a system fit at all and he didn't understand what the Jets were thinking. It was him or McShay I believe. Also, what the hell is he rambling on about here? We were reportedly very high on T Austin, but didn't the Rams move ahead of us at #8 to get him, so there was no way the Jets could have picked him even if they wanted to? Also about the QB, we drafted the highest rated QB on our board (and many others, even Kipers I believe) in the second round. So he's saying people were doubting our strategy since we didn't just go ahead and draft Geno a round earlier than we needed to? So people were hating because we didn't reach for a QB, but ended up still getting the guy we were seriously considering drafting in the first, but ended up getting him anyway a round later. You would think that would be something to praise the team about.
Love all the giving up om Dee Milliner after four NFL games... Meanwhile, Darelle Revis was pretty much meh for his rook season
Milliner is going to be a stud at corner. Give him time.. There's not many corners put there who perform really well out of the gate. He's got a hammy problem now, it's not really too big of a deal. He did miss all of training camp, so he really wasn't in the best shape to come in and play. Anyways, I say next year before the draft, if Cromartie continues to struggle, and/or doesn't want to lower his contract for next year, we send a pick towards Dallas for Morris Claiborne. I hear he was benched (don't know if its completely true). I really like this guy, he just doesn't fit their scheme at all, but I think that he'd be perfect for Rex's. Hopefully he continues to struggle.
I'm ridiculously excited about Richardson so far. He looks even better than Wilk or Coples did as a rookie. He still sometimes gets turned around, but what promise from a young kid. Milliner, I have no clue. Honestly he looks like a average #2 corner to me when he plays. But it such a hard position to judge, but I'd rather him get some playing time and make mistakes rather than just be hurt all the time. So obviously looking back not thrilled with this pick...yet. Geno, I like it so far. I'm a Sanchez supporter, and coming into this season I wanted Geno to sit, but I was wrong, this kid needs to play and get experience. He is composed, even when he makes mistakes he looks composed. It's so early, but for a second round pick we have a QB who has us at 3-2 so not bad.
I'm confused as to why everyone is so down on Milliner. Obviously, he need to get back on the field, but anyone who watched any Alabama game last season knows the kind of player he is.
I didn't and still don't like the milliner pick. Physically and mentally. U just can't "give" these guys time to acclimate. At pick 9 ur ass better be real close to nfl ready, with injury as the exception obviously. Granted CB is one of the real tough positions for a rookie, as is defensive lineman and offensive tackles, and of course QB. The jets more or less whiffed with k. Wilson and it remains to be seen if milliner can make up for that.
