While we didn't win, and there are no morale victories, you need to realize something. The Jets showed 3 things today. 1. They have heart - to come out in the 2nd half and fight back the way they did, takes alot of determination and believing in yourself, and a unit as a whole. They did an awesome job. 2. Fight - they put up a fight til' the very end. While they were about to get knocked out, they started their comeback, and wouldn't give up til the clock hit 0:00. 3. Intimidation - They weren't intimidated at all. This is the team that has kicked their asses prolifically over the past 4 years or so. We ran with em' to the end, and wouldn't let them boss us around. Personally, I'm proud of em'. I think they played a hell of a game, and I think that they may be better than we all think. When you get Chemistry, you never know what can happen. I consider this game to be a stepping stone. Go Jets!
Mangini/Schott stop trying to run it up the middle, Ben Graham doesn't shank that punt, and we coulda had the game.
Actually, I had a feeling that Graham would have a crappy punt today. IMO, I think that could potentially be a good thing because Graham never had a horrible punt. I think he will learn from it, and be effective.
4. I don't know what happened at half time, but this team was obviously different in the second half. This is something we haven't seen since Parcells was here. 5. I thought that Barlow showed that he can be the answer at RB.
This was the game that was going to be used as the measuring stick , well we measured up. I'm happy that we are going in the right direction , and with a handfull of players to come who knows whats around the corner
You have to show the willingness to run up the middle, or teams will just stack up on the outside game. You lose more yards on the outside anyway then you do on the inside. Interior runs are usually good for atleast a positive gain regardless if its 10 yards or 2.
I agree Drew. The Jets showed heart today, and that even though on paper they don't have a superbowl qualitiy team, that they can play with the big boys, and still have a shot at winning.
hahahaha:lol: :rofl2: this is true.....everyones been sucking this guys ass around here.....and hes been great.....today he let us down though, no doubt
I was mainly talking about that 4th down and the third that preceded it. Our running game wasn't going anywhere and their D line was eating our Oline for breakfast. Chances are we're not to get lucky if we just keep doing the same thing in that case.
Very well put. We knew this wasn't going to be an easy game, but I did think it was a winnable game, and the way the Jets played today proved that. A couple of plays on D, and a running game, could have changed the complexion of this game. We would have sustained some of those drives if we could run, and that could have led to more points. We didn't give up, and fought hard to the end. I like the makeup of this team right now. We really have to get the running game going though, because its too much pressure on Chad.
barlow has looked so much better than Blaylock yet they keep giving it to Blaylock. It's time to give Barlow the workload.
the jets are going to compete all year, and if nothing else it'll be fun to watch. you know they're not gonna win the super bowl, but after the pat's game you know they're not gonna settle for another embarrassing season
