uhm, actually I was not trying to dispute anything. I was just trying to point out a few facts, because it seemed to me that people were only willing to look at one side of the issue with Pennington.

Quite frankly I don't care either way. If a 1st rounder can start the first year - great, if he has to sit a few years - great. It is irrelevant in my opinion as long as he eventually produces. Brady was drafted in what the 6th round I think, and he sat behind Bledsoe, and became the best QB in the league, 3 SB rings, and well on his way to the HOF. It just does not matter. All that matters is whether you produce or not, when you get your shot to play. Which is the real issue, not where someone was drafted, or whether they sat a year.

"they are drafted in the 1st round to be starters, not backups. they are simply back-ups until they are ready."

So they were not drafted to be back-ups, but were stil back-ups until they were ready? huh? So they were back-ups at some point, which is the point I was making. And of course you draft QBs in the later rounds with intention of them someday starting. Finding good players in the later rounds is where you find value. A team with a 3rd string QB that is capable of starting is better than a team with a 3rd string QB not capable of starting. See Brady as an example again. If you do not intend for the players you draft in the later rounds to start someday (or at least be capable of starting if the need arises) then why the hell draft them in the first place? To fill a roster spot?

Chad will never a the QB we had hoped for. If you look at how slow his passes are and how much air he puts under the ball, it spells disaster.

I admit he was very accurate at one time and in the Hackman's offense Chad was a good QB, but no OC is ever going to call such a short yardage and conservative game plan again. It ended up getting Hackman fired and other OCs don't want to be compaired to him.

We blamed our lame offense on Paul but now we know he was playing to Chad's strengths. Chad is not the answer anymore. He is predictable, weak armed, and looks likes he's running scared. Most importantly he is made of glass!
