The D was good, there were a lot of drops(even before the rain) that could have made the night much worse for the D but they kept us in it and got big stops. The D has played well the first 2 weeks w/ a lot of room for improvement. I really like the potential of this defense, I think we are seeing the beginnings of the best D we have had- maybe not this year but by next year.
Terrible may be strong, but they weren't very good. 1 sack, Brady had some time, but the receivers sucked as bad as the JETS. Dudes were burnt, but the ball was dropped. Some established vets on the same page with Brady the game would've been MUCH worse. They do deserve some credit for 3rd down efficiency though! They're a LB and a Safety away from being very good.
Get over it. The ball was literally on the ground when he his second foot touched the ground. No catch. I thought the Defensive front played exceptionally. They are definitely going to be the strength of the D for awhile. The secondary needs work.
Take off your blue and red goggles and admit that it was a bad overturn. Nobody is making it an excuse for why the Jets lost.
Errrr he had already caught the ball, taken 2 steps and was in the process of tucking the ball in when Milliner stripped it. It was clearly a fumble.
My takeaways so far of the D. Vastly improved vs the run, surprising improvement from the inside LB's limited penetration from the line during pass including OLB's, Cro appears to be playing hurt more than he's leading on, Darrin Walls as I've mentioned in a previous thread and by PFF is a better corner (and a sleeper) than milliner.
We are good against the run but pass defense looked sloppy even though we kept Brady under 200 yards. There were a lot of drops by Pats receivers and if it was Gronk-Hernandez-Welker on the field last night we could be burned big time.
Agree except for the LB, I thought they played pretty well especially Davis. Pressure on the QB will help cover up the poor quality of the safety's and corners. I think we get that once Coples is back.
I don't post much, and I confess that I am just an average fan that only sees what my eyes show me, but I am a little confused here, so perhaps you guys can help me out. With all the talk about how if the Jets receivers held onto Geno's passes, it is a win, but doesn't that go both ways? I think I saw lots of dropped balls on the Patriots side, along with lots of wide open receivers with a lot of room to run. If those are held onto, don't the Patriots score a whole lot more? My point is, from the perspective of an average fan who knows nothing about the game, the Jets secondary would have been pretty well shredded if the Pats had caught the ball.
the game plan was obviously to make the young, mistake prone wideouts beat us ... and they made mistakes just like rex thought they would yea, there were some blown coverages but the defense was far from terrible ... that was a good performance
Torched repeatedly? Are you sure you watched NY Jets vs NE Patriots last night and not some college game? The Pats were forced to punt on almost every possession. They got burned big time once, on the first drive. Yeah their crappy receivers didn't help, but the drops they had were pretty tough catches most of the time.
The run defense was really good. The pass defense got burned too much and only drops and wonky throws saved them.
I found it amazing that the one guy we had to account for torched us repeatedly. This was a very depleted NE team and yet with one option for Brady to throw to they consistently hit the one option.
he had about 70 yards, not bad containment really considering how many targets he had and that he had to make some acrobatic catches to get them.
