Carl Banks on Joe Benigno's show this morning predicted the Patriots would win at least 24-7 and referred to Mangini as "the young kid". Obviously some resentment and jealousy of Gang Green....
carl banks has hated the jets for a while, i think all jints do...which is why when they lose I laugh hard...he's on sirus and was an asshole to me when i called in...so screw him
Giants are such an old boring franchise, they have fans going to games with walkers and oxygen tanks. I think midget fans are a little jealous that the city is now at least 50/50 (if not a smidge pro jet) even though the giants are the "old guard".
NOBODY hates the Giants more than I do but he could be right, I don't think he's saying that b/c of hatred of the Jets.
I've noticed that from a media perspective in the NY area the Jets seem to get as much if not more ink and talk than the Giants. 1050 talks about them more because they have the Jets, Benigno talks about them more because he's a fan. Sommers talks about them more. Mike and the Dog don't talk football. The Papers are split, with Newsday towards the Jets, News & Times towards the Giants, the Post is 50/50.
True...Banks was collecting his last few NFL paychecks and probably resented Mangini then when he saw he was up and coming.
Just b/c the Giants have been around for longer...the ratio is most like 60/40 in favor of the giants. It was movving more towards 50/50 a few years back when the jets were a much better team than the giants...but that has flip flopped
As a Giants fan on a Jets board, I've always sensed a lot more resentment from the Green side. Giants fans have Dallas, Washington, and Philly to occupy their time. We really don't concern ourselves with a team we see every 4 years.
Giant fans are all over the place. NY, NE, NJ, and Pennsylavania. They have been around for a long time.
