it really is a shame how much ticket prices have gone up. even before the new stadium they were rising at an alarming rate. now they are just obnoxious.
Back at Shea in the early 70's my season tickets were $49...7 games/$7 a game, but you wouldn't have liked them Junc, I was forced to watch Joe Namath every game!...

Was at that game, Lou Piccone my favorite Jet, returned a punt 60 yards for a TD and I almost fell out of the upper deck...Namath and Todd both played
It's weird how some teams (though we play them rarely) we pretty much always beat. Sure Tampa was bad some of those years...so were we...but we beat them when they're good too (1982, 1997, 2000, 2005) It's the same with the Minnesota Vikings. Doesn't matter how good the Vikings are or how bad we are...we will always beat the Minnesota Vikings We also seem to have good success against the Packers. Won 9 of our last 10 against Cincy. The Eagles and Ravens on the other hand
I was at the '82 Bucs game at Shea in early December. Jets had a very strong team and they rolled over the Bucs. Thing I most remember, though, is how bitterly cold it was that day. My seats were in the end zone (closed end) and the wind was coming at me all game. There had been a modest snowfall the night before and the field was being cleared by tractors when I got there early. There is a clip from NFL Films of John McKay wearing a ski mask covering most of his face, and it was from that game. Bottom line: The Tampa boys had no chance under those conditions. I was also at the '85 smackdown and had totally forgotten the humiliation Tampa had dished out in the late '84 season. That's why I was wondering in the '85 game why the Jets were running it up so badly. It was well-deserved payback. If I'm not mistaken, the Jets set a team record for 1st downs in that game too.
that was the game madden was throwing snowballs with the fans('82). I'm guessing that was the first Jet game Madden ever called.
if you were 5 at the time you haven't suffered as a Jet fan, in your lifetime the Jets have been one of the better teams in the AFC. You didn't live through the 70s where we never made a postseason(neither did I), you didn't watch in the 90s where we won4 games over 2 years and won 1 playoff game(I was at every home game in the 90s)- that was suffering.
