GENO IS #1 PERIOD Best QB JETS HAVE HAD Since Vinnie n Will Be Better THAN Vinnie and mr more ints then tds Nammath Stop the madness geno jus had 1 lil bad game in the pre season n it wasnt even all that terrible he did lead nyj down the field 3x n threw a td
geno IS The future u d!ckheads he still led the jets down the field 3 times n threw a td AND The 1st int wasnt his fault and JetsFan is a f@g
Heres the qb situation .... GENO #1 ........... Then worry bout everything else Sanchez Or Simms at #2 prolly sanchez i have the most confidence in geno leading this franchise, i trust him unlike Sanchez Just need sum WRS N A RB That can actually take sum pressure off him like RG3 HAS
Exactly. I don't see Leinart or Beck being much of an improvement over Sanchez. If Geno was good enough to draft you play him until he proves he doesn't have it. Then you go with the next in line, which in my mind is Simms. If Sanchez is done for the year the Jets should go with Smith, Simms and third string McElroy. I was NOT impressed with McElroy last year and he isn't significantly better this year.
Was Brett Ratliff ever given a legitimate chance on the Browns? I don't remember if he played or not.
IMO, if Sanchez is hurt there's no chance anyone other than Geno Smith is starting QB. The one year useless scrub brought in would be to back up Geno in case of injury, or another half like last night, not to lead the team in week 1.
That's not quite what I meant...I was simply stating that why bother wasting cycles typing if you don't want to add constructively. Simply read and move on. I don't need someone to tell me "why bother debating" if they don't want to. Just read and move on... Having said that, I'm not picking one over another right now. I want to see more of Simms next week...he AND Geno! Let's see if Geno takes what he did last night...hit the practice field and apply what he's learned from the game film in the Igles' game. I simply want to see more of Simms and I posted VERY good and valid reasons in my original post. The coaches in this league that survive are the ones that can "shuck and dive" and move with the situations.
okay - but just b/c you don't think Don's comment was constructive doesn't mean that he doesn't have a right to express his viewpoint. I tend to agree w/Don. Does that mean I shouldn't bother to read this thread or comment? BTW He's correct - the QB situation is going to be decided by Rex w/input from Idzik. its fun to discuss but ultimately its not up to us. lets just hope whoever starts game 1 helps beat the bucs.
It is funny that the media was writing/talking that sanchez is a bust/scrub. Now that he is injured it's. "What is rex doing?" and "That's a starter he lost " .
the jets need to start Geno week 1. after sleeping on it and getting a feel for how last years rookies were doing, I've come to this thought. the only way he'll get better is with more time with live competition. I don't see a way where sitting him is to his best benefit and I don't see a scenario where sanchez or anybody else that could be a placeholder for him will be without their own issues. with the latter point in mind it seems like a more efficient use of time to go with the rookie. I think he's more ready then people think, he knows the offense and can execute what he needs to do in it. he never felt lost to me, he's just in need of being able to see the little things.(that can add up to be so much more) the game simply has to slow down for him, and more chemistry with him and his receivers needs to be developed. this is stuff that comes with time, and it has to be spent in moments that count before it can get better. less time will be spent on him in practice if he's not the starter, easing him into more complex matters as the jets emphasize working on his mistakes seems like the best approach. that ship has sailed for #6, we can afford to go through with this with Geno in 2013. he can't handle it, never makes any improvements? we move on, nice and easy. but for now, work on him like he's the future. even last years touted rookie class had bad days, give him the start vs the eagles to begin with and let him get accustomed.
I like how OP is trashing Geno's mechanics, which actually aren't that bad at all for a rookie, meanwhile is praising Matt Simms who has PISS POOR mechanics. Matt Simms ain't leading us to shit. Geno will be alright, it was his FIRST START against a number 1 defense. Other than the picks, which I wasn't happy about, he looked fine to me. Also, I bet Sanchez is fine and will be starting week 1 anyway.
The early season does not have a tough D outside of possibly the Bucs. It's a good start for a young QB. If Sanchez can't make it, Geno will be the guy, unless the Jets bring in somebody else. I'd rather wait and see what's up with Sanchez before speculating. For all we know he'll be back for week 1.
Geno threw more TD's in the first quarter last night than Sanchez did all last year's preseason lol. Also, Russel Wilson had a couple of picks. Does this mean he isnt ready to be the starter?
ALL the interceptions against the jints were GENO"S FAULT, on the 1st one he threw BEHIND the receiver & allowed the DB to get his hands on the ball & make the int. If GENO led the receiver properly the INTERCEPTION NEVER would have happened but again GENO F'd up & threw behind the receiver ALLOWING an opportunity for the DB to make a play on the ball & the DB did creating the INT. The other two were just blatantly bad.
geno doesn't quite look like he is ready to start. seems like he is still learning how to read NFL defenses. I'm not sure that throwing him out there to sink or swim would be good for him or for the NYJ. btw i was against throwing sanchez out there to sink or swim too.
