It's funny, because I'm very liberal when it comes to race sensitivity, but this article is just plain ridiculous and demeaning. People like this writer should focus their efforts on the game at a high school/pop warner level and deal with coaches who take a raw, talented, young black athlete and make him a reciever, running back, etc. without ever giving him a shot at the QB position - this is where the race issue is a problem concerning QB, although it is so much better today than 20 years ago. Does anyone out there really think there is a single NFL owner/GM/coach who gives a crap what color their QB is????? They care about wins....which equals money - that's all!
I wonder what the tone of this article would have been if Herm were still the coach. In my opinion, this is inflammatory nonsense and nothing more. Smith is a great athlete but he wouldn't be a starting QB on any NFL team regardless of race. Glad to have him on the team as he seems like a winner in any position!
who wrote this, the NAACP? the coaching staff evaluates players and puts them where they play best, where they provide the team with the best chance to win. as several people have mentioned, Matt Jones totally shoots down this theory; so to do Cunningham and Moon, McNabb and Vick. if Brad Smith was our best QB, he'd be in there. clearly, he's not. cheers
"QB bullshit artist Chad Pennington"? Would that be he of the 73% completion percentage, 300+ passing yards and AFC Offensive Player of the Week honour? That Chad Pennington? This article is a joke and if it was written the other way around, assuming a player is better simply because he is white, there would be an outcry. Racist crap.
wow, they can print that. i'll take my chances with the best skilled athlete at that position. that would be chad.
that really was a completely racist article.....it was basically propaganda but it's not his fault for posting it....funny to read though but you can't take crap like that seriously.
You guys are overblowing this crap. Its not like this article was ever placed in print or a reputable newspaper, I'm sure you can find all sorts of ridiculous stuff if you're willing to look hard enough. I'm interested in how Canejet even found the article in the first place. I couldn't even read it all, it was that bad.
Brad Smith played against a defense that was pretty much all cut the next day. So his numbers dont mean anything. Second of all, he already is a productive WR, so why change him back?
when your argument lacks substance, go for sensationalism. you know you suck when you embarrass the disgraceful job of journalism.
