I can't wait to see him going deep play after play against Revis. It at least will take 2 players off the field if he keeps running the streaks. If Ted Ginn can do it, so can Hill.
False assessment. It's already been confirmed with facts that Edwards only had a lot of drop his last year with the Browns. He was middle of the pack with the Jets and had his best year in 2010. There was a 5 page article about the broken bones in his fingers and how they are somewhat disfigured and the WR coach at the time (Ellard) had to teach Edwards to catch more with his left hand instead of his right. Not ragging on you just dislike the perpetuation of false info.
I was wondering that myself. They aren't even close to the same type of receiver. One was a 1st/2nd rd prospect, one undrafted. About the only thing they have in common is that they play in NY
There would be nothing better than seeing Stephen Hill torch Revis for a touchdown like Ginn or Moss did.
Encouraging to hear. One of the most interesting guys to watch in camp IMO. As raw as he was last year the guy still managed to get open a decent amount of the time which was encouraging. Sanchez either couldn't find him or was off target. Hopefully, with some refined technique and experience he can make the jump. Frankly, even without Holmes as long as the WR's stay healthy I'm not concerned about the group. Areas of major concern are TE because we have no threat at that position and the RB's health/production are a major question mark. Kerley is a solid #3 in the slot and even if he is thrust into the #2 role on the outside like last year he still managed to slither his way open often enough in that role. Braylon played OK down the stretch when the O was in shambles so I expect him to contribute something as he is a big target who uses his body well even if he has lost some speed. If Hill takes another step that's a decent trio that would rank somewhere in the middle half of the league. That leaves room for two of the young guys to make an impression like Rogers and Spadola who they seem to like.
Rex's offseason is always laced with lofty expectations. Then Week One hits and it all turns to shit before his eyes. At least he's learned to not run around claiming we're going to "kick their ass" and "we're going to the Superbowl." Nothing matters until we buckle up in September and face reality.
Hill can be a beast, but I'm not going to get a comfort level with him until I see consistency on the field in the Regular season
Key word is had. Edwards used to have drop problems, but he got over them. Most players' drop problems in the NFL are from concentration issues. This is the problem Braylon had and Hill is dealing with right now. You don't get into the NFL as a receiver if you can't catch a football.
Hill is 4 inches taller and about 20 pounds heavier. I was referring mostly to the deep threat ability and his quickness. He's also pretty powerful. What I said was that he COULD emerge into a Victor Cruz TYPE of player. I wasn't saying they were the same. I was talking about the level of talent. He could be what Cruz has been to the Giants over the past 2 years. He was Eli Manning's safety net, and with all the injuries they had with Nicks, the Giants would not have won that superbowl without him. They also wouldn't have made it without him and that 99 yard catch against us.
Last year I really liked the pick. The problem with Hill was experience, to the extent that I definitely wouldn't have wanted him to start right away. Getting that much experience is a good thing, but I think through the course of the season it the in game mistakes definitely effected his confidence. I expect Hill to be our best WR any time Holmes isn't on the field, by a very large margin. We all knew even last year this guy had the measurables to be one of the top couple WR's in the league.
Come on guys. Remember the last 3 seasons opposing teams fans always thought their top WR could beat Revis. Every week, he proved them wrong. Lets not turn into those guys. Revis is the best and Hill will not torch him.
