This is a blog from Corey Griffin, TheJetsBlog.com link Nice succinct write up from someone whose actually in Cortland. He's pretty high on Griffin who I know next to nothing about, so will now be looking out for him. If he's as good as hes being touted then maybe Goodson is as good as gone
nice artical. It will be interesting to see these guys actually play in the pre-season. I would like to see Griffin stashed on the PS if and when Ivory gets injured.
Powell has a pretty low ceiling, IMO. He does a little bit of everything, but nothing that stands out like Chris Johnson's speed or AP's, well, everything. I like Powell as a 3rd down back, but nothing more really. As Jets fans, we have watched underwhelming RB play the last couple of seasons. I think this will be obvious when (if?) we watch Chris Ivory run.
On the surface it looks that way but he has everything you need in a RB. Above average speed (we've seen average speed backs have good careers) he can catch out the backfield and he can pass block. Give him some decent amount of carries and he can produce. Your post is how most people view him so that's why I feel he needs to use this as an opportunity to show that he's more than a 3rd down back.
Michael Turner would be a great goal line solution and after his recent dui case his price tag probably wouldn't be bad. He is healthy and a bruiser.
If Goodson is taking care of his legal situation, your fragile emotions are pretty much irrelevant. It may be that he is taking care of a rehab obligation that keeps him from missing regular season games. Go ahead and be pissed off. Nobody really gives a shit.
I hope thats what it is. that would at least be constructive and benefit the team when it matters most. Goodson would be a damned welcome sigh of relief coming into camp or the season with the risk that ivory isn't even close to being ready to go.
I'm thinking it's got to do with his legal situation. It can't be court appearances or that would be in the news, and obviously he could afford bail so he's not in jail either. If he was injured, Rex would have said so. If it was a death in the family or something like that, Rex would have said so. I think the only other possibility is that he's doing some alcohol counseling and/or community service and will then formally plead guilty to some lesser non-jail charge. I'm guessing he had his lawyers ask the prosecutors not to tell the media about the deal, otherwise media would show up at the rehab place or wherever he's doing community service and create more PR headaches for the Jets. Since Goodson's friend told the arresting officer that the gun was his, and the friend was also driving the car, the "only" thing Goodson is really in trouble for is the drug paraphernalia and possibly the bullet if that wasn't in the gun. I think Goodson will be playing this season, but I'm not totally sure.
