As (I think nyjunc) pointed out: it will never end. It will just shift to the next guy, who will most likely be Geno Smith.
I agree that children should be taught patience. I don't think they have a chance to learn it, though, because the odds of a child taking a lesson like that from a parent in the face of so much contradiction everywhere around them is sadly not likely. As far as New York... Let me share an example to a fellow GI. Japan was riddled with capitalism after they surrendered. They resisted at first, then embraced it. That capitalist focus launched them far ahead of the US in terms of societal progress due to the far smaller population. Fast forward to 1996, I am strolling the streets of Tokyo and seeing giant digital billboards, people walking around with corporate sponsorship on their chests, invasive commercial influence everywhere. Their television programming was mostly mindless and designed to grab attention immediately and aggressively. And they LOVED it. They celebrated it. It almost scared me. They had programming, products, and insane sensory input at the drop of a hat. Their electronics were 10 years ahead of ours. So we're their cars, although people will disagree. Japan is like the capitalist petri dish that the US is basing their development of the country upon. And the first place they started using it was NYC. /rant
I watched quite a few games of Geno over the past few years. His gaudy numbers were based on two important factors: 1) Crazy good chemistry with his receivers, and 2) NOT getting pressured or knocked around in the pocket. When Geno gets rattled, and it didn't take much, he lost his touch and timing quickly and wasn't worth much the rest of the game. He has the tools. I hope he can develop on the fly.
Some people make it seem like we are abandoning Sanchez after 2 years. Its year 5, and he hasnt separated himself from a rookie. Its not like we have Eli Manning here who has won two SB MVPs and had a somewhat down year last year. No, this is a guy who was statistically on average a bottom 6 QB in the league. He was a top 5 pick, and is being paid a large amount. There are some people here that are already anointing Geno the starting, but Im pretty sure more are being cautiously optimistic. Many would like Sanchez to do well, but Im srue at this point, most would like Geno to do even better- as he presents a higher ceiling, clean canvas for coaching and a low pay check. Not everyone lacks patience. Some are just ready to move on after 4 years. Just because this is the case with Sanchez, it doesnt mean that no matter how Geno plays, it will happen to him.
@MMehtaNYDN: Jets camp today: An underperforming WR got in the face of an underperforming DB to chastise him for underperforming. #nyj Manish sure does love those anonymous sources
Ivory is injured....yet again http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap10...ts-chris-ivory-suffers-setback-with-hamstring If only he can stay fit
I assume he's referring to this (from Cimini's practice report): http://espn.go.com/blog/new-york/je...ith?utm_source=twitterfeed&utm_medium=twitter
Here's what i think. Hobbes and LongtimeJetfans 'avatar's speak for them self's and make them look like Idiots. Plus their post's are not to informative.
Dude EVERYONE who has watched practice thinks Sanchez is being SOUNDLY outplayed by Geno. Heath Evans trashed the Jets early yesterday and said he thought Sanchez would start. After watching practice who thought Geno was ahead of Sanchez even in "little details of the WCO" and was WAY ahead of where he thought a rookie could be at this point. Tim Ryan and Pat Kirwan went to camp thinking the same thing (that Sanchez would start) and stated that they think Sanchez is in trouble and Geno can really spin it. Only negative was holding on to the ball too long, which he will get better at with reps. And that was yesterday, before Sanchez laid an egg today.
I think your dead right abt today's fans. How we can judge anything based upon rich cimini and crews reports is crazy. They have to sell their news, and a close controversial qb competition is a home Run for them. Id curb my enthusiasm until pre season.
Great point. I was also going to ask what were the games where Geno tanked after getting booed? Even during the losing streak he had great stats.
they can sell that either way, no real advantage in saying smith is doing better than saying sanchez is doing better, but curbing enthusiasm is a good thing anyhow.
