Mehta is trying to make a name for himself with sensationalist articles. Cimini did the same thing before he went to ESPN. They both went to shit toward the tail end of their DN careers.

Jeff Capellini by far is the move even keeled beat writer in this day and age.

Whoever writes at NYJETSCAP is my favorite beat writer, although technically he's not a beat writer, he's better than the professionals.

    http://nyjetscap.com/

TGG is the only fan site I post on regularly.

I like ProFootballTalk which has Rumor Mill and it updated every 15 minutes or so, if news is flying in they update it at a faster rate. Have been to TurnOnTheJets site and its OK, But TGG site is for real Jet fans who feel the need to express themselves and get honest answers from other true fans. Sometimes I just come here to read and never post but this has to be my number one first visit of the day.

    best beat writers to follow

i used to follow connor orr on twitter, but he unfortunately left to follow the giants. i personally thought he was the best because he never showed a bias, unlike rich cimini and manish mehta. anyways, i was wondering who are the better beat writers for the jets? its gonna be tough moving on, but its gotta be done

Jetscap is great, from an info standpoint.

  9. None of the Jet beat writers are both down the middle & well informed. That said I'll go w/ Cimini as at least he has a knowledge of football & his sources are almost always the most reliable. He's snarky & negative..but at least he's informative.

Cimini started losing me during the Revis debacles.. The guy would just do anything for a headline. When Rich unveiled his Tebowner I stopped following him all together.

Long time lurker here. I really enjoy BGA on theJetsBlog. I wish there were more sites that did good detailed player analyses. The stuff on TV and most websites is way too watered down.

Sadly, I don't care too much for any of the beat writers (for many of the same reasons). It wouldn't even take much to hook me... a little legitimate enthusiasm and some real analysis would probably do the trick. I use rotoworld's Jets page this site and occasionally twitter for my news.

Are people serious with incarcerated bob? Or are they just being sarcastic? This guys is a fucking joke and doesn't have a SINGLE INSIDE SOURCE, NOT ONE. he just makes shit up that is likely to happen and calls it a fact. He gets some right, and even more wrong. Here is an example of what he does.

BREAKING NEWS: the Jets are close to a contract with rookie CB Dee Milner, just some minor details left. The contact will be signed in the next few days.

Now this is likely to happen in the next few days, and he and everybody else knows that. He states it like a fact and when it goes down, he said he called it. If you take enough rumors as fact, eventually some of them come true.

Most of the local media guys are stone cold pukes and sensationalist. They no longer want to report the news, they want to make news. Seems to me they love throwing the team, coaches and players under the bus every chance they get. No doubt in my mind that sports journalism is a dying profession.
As far as fan sites go, TGG.and JI are just alright by me.

If by "beat" you mean furious self-ego-masturbator, you would be correct. He is only worth two good articles a year, and while I don't subscribe to Twitter, I already know his content there is worthless.

Get out of here with that tripe.

Mehta tried to be an objective writer at the beginning of his career with NYDN, as he was at his previous gig, but it is likely that he was told to emulate his predecessor or find a new job.

Negativity apparently sells well for those rags.

Liked him at first, have no further use for him until he finds a job elsewhere and stops with the predictable anonymous sources.
