George Sauer is alot of fans favorite all-time Jet. Fabulous WR, Super Bowl Champion, very smart & interesting person. RIP.

  2. R.I.P. George

Before my time but still was well aware of his franchise contributions as I try to appreciate all eras of Jets football. There are alot of Sauers in my family & I always hoped we were distantly related.

Man oh man. This fan base cannot catch a break

One of the first guys who retired in the peak of his career. I never saw him play but I've heard and read what a great WR he was. Crazy to think that he is only a few years older than my dad.... RIP #83.

RIP #83 - I'm old enough to remember watching you and Don play together. What a tandem you two were.

Great receiver, with the best hands I ever saw, the unsung hero of SB III...retired prematurely, perfect compliment to Don Maynard

RIP 83. An underated player, and one of the main reasons we celebrate the 1968 SB III team.

Go with God, George. You left the game too soon, and this world too soon. One of the reasons I chose this moniker was to honor one of the many unsung pros this franchise has sometimes forgotten. I love Joe Namath, but the Jets are so much more than one guy as was the Super Bowl championship. May the franchise honor your contributions this year and look around and highlight some of the other great, great players from the early years that made us all fans of this team.

Great hands and moves. Joe had him in his sights on Super Bowl Sunday. What a performance!
I heard he gave up on the NFL because of the way players were treated then, at least those who weren't super stars.

    RIP #83

Great possession receiver. No speed yet was always open. Maynard deep and Sauer underneath. Secured the victory in SBIII. Thank you, George.

    Message from Joe Namath

As many of you know, I've lost a friend and GREAT teammate, George Sauer Jr. Last night I told my daughter I've never had a better teammate on ANY of the teams I've been on. He was unselfish, prepared, determined and supportive. He had a positive presence on the field, in the locker room, and around anyone I ever saw George with. It's with a heavy heart that I'd like to express my condolences to his sister Dana, and also thank all of you that have remembered George with me.

Doesn't get mentioned enough in Jets lore. Fantastic performance in SB III and a very big reason this franchise has a championship in its history.

    RIP George Sauer.

Should have been named co MVP of SB 3 with JWN as he assisted greatly with his play in that most crucial game. May he RIP & hopefully he is smiling down on his SB3 teammates
