It's supposedly not a media driven frenzy, but NFL.com has this on their front page... ...with 6 accompanying stories. I have nothing against Tebow, but geez louise, it's not like he is future HOFer like Favre or Manning contemplating retirement.
Let this thread die already. I know the only reason it's still going is to needle Tebots about how bad he is, but he is a no talent quarterback with no future in the NFL until he sets aside his un-Christian-like pride and realizes he is better suited at an alternate position in the NFL. His quarterback skills are on par with Brooks Bollinger. Maybe even worse. Fair shake? He never deserved a fair shake. Let it go. Enjoy his absence.
I see this and I think the poor guy doesn't have a chance. What GM in their right mind would invite this into their organization?
You are the first person I have ever seen verbalize this sentiment. Here is the person you are arguing with ...
The list is small, but there are a handful teams where it would make sense to consider it and where the front offices would have the clout to completely ignore the media ... 1. San Francisco - Tebow's not good enough to compete with Colt McCoy and BJ Daniels? They'd almost be stupid not to consider it. He even plays the same style of game as Kapernick. 2. Atlanta - their backup is Dominick Davis. 3. Baltimore - their backup is Tyrod Taylor. 4. Dallas - their backup is Kyle Orton (who Tebow essentially ran out of Denver) and Jerry Jones would probably be one of the few owners/GM that would welcome the attention. 5. New England - Belichick could add him to the roster (couldn't care less what the media thinks), but it would be a wildcat/gadget play player; I can't imagine he'd ever let him be the backup.
I didn't say there were legions. Just that he had his supporters and they showed up. They didn't dominate or anything. It's not like most people can just up and move to NY or NJ from Denver on a whim. Most Tebowers follow online. Just because they don't dominate a crowd at a game, doesn't mean they don't exist.
So online fans of Tebow were the cause of division on the team, controversy and making the franchise a circus?? C'mon man. Now you're really reaching.
Mangold fought for his job? Brick fought for his job? Cro fought for his job? Landry fought for his job? All those guys had to "fight" or risk being benched? No. There was no chance any of those players would ever lose their jobs. They all gave 100% all the time, just like Mark, however much he struggled.
Where did I say that there was any division on the team? All I said was that the Tebow crowd is a real crowd. The media is what turned it into a circus, but without the Tebow fans giving them ratings, the circus would instantly collapse. The dude earlier that I responded to was claiming it was a myth. It's not a myth. It is a tangible measurable fact.
I thought teams were waiting to get Tebow on the cheap? Didn't they keep preaching to us how a lot of teams wanted him, but didn't want to fork over a 7th rounder? Didn't they wait because everyone knew the jets would cut him? Called me and a bunch of other idiots for not seeing that point and thinking it was more of a case of him not being wanted. There will be a stampede to sign Tebow any minute now... right? It's coming... prepare for the media frenzy.... *crickets chirping* Anyone? Anyone? Beuller? Beuller?
Weird. The thread is still Jets related, however. It's not bullshit despite 90% of the responses being bullshit
That ad campaign in Jacksonville was one of those "with friends like these who needs enemies?" deals. It didn't get him signed by the Jaguars and it reinforced the issue that everybody else has about potentially bringing his baggage on board. Here's a thought for the media at this point: why don't you stop chasing consumers who are only interested in one player? It's not like he's going to have any staying power anyway and you're not going to keep those consumers when he goes.
Considering jersey sales are SHARED thorughout the teams, there isn't a gain there. Most of those that might jump the bandwagon on a team they never cared about before probably won't put a cent into the team because they live across the country. Those fans J-ville will get are artificial at best. And how about those Teboners petitioning the president and making commercials on his behalf.... yeah, batshit crazy Teboners aren't a problem. not at all. The other 31 teams are probably excited about the drama going on in Jacksonville and can't wait to get that kind of thing going in the middle of their offseason. Yes I was being sarcastic. That will probably end Tebow in the NFL right there, if it wasn't long gone already.
