I'm guessing Idzik wanted to bring in his own staff from day 1, but since he got hired so close to the draft he used them for the work they'd done, and released them
you figured he has a few guys he wants to bring in, just had to wait till the draft was over. somehow the media will turn this into a major deal
i wouldn't jump to that conclusion so quickly. t.b. is a very respected scout around the league. he sucks as a g.m.
Makes sense. Can't change scouting department right before a draft after they spent all year working on the players
Yea figured it would come now. Why pay people for an entire years worth of scouting fire them in January and then let them go to another team before the draft.
Too many boom-or-bust prospects, especially in the 2nd and 3rd rounds. Too much emphasis on athleticism and upside and not enough on ability. Look at the track record - Hill, Ducasse, Greene, Ellis, etc. It's good to hear that the scouting dep't is being held accountable.
I'm sure they would have been replaced anyway, regardless of their history. The Jets cut their scouting department! are they beginning to regret the choices made that badly already? and what does this have to do with Geno smith's prissy behavior for cutting his agents(can you say drama queen?) and how it will inevitably translate to him being yet another bust? we'll find a way to find a connection in our extensive coverage of ScoutGate, the latest controversy in the circus like saga that is the the New York Jests.
As expected. It would've been foolish for Idzik to make major scouting changes before 2013 draft. Now that it's time to start preparing for 2014 draft, he can start putting his own people in the drafting hierarchy.
Hill, far too early to comment on. Ducasses yeah, it was a reach for a 2nd round pick and thus far hasn't paid off. Greene actually wasn't a bad RB, fans just expected him to be great and he wasn't. But 1,000 yard rusher's aren't bad RB's, he just wasn't a breakaway explosive RB. Ellis, when he's been on the field, has been a very good 3-4 DT. Problem is he's been injury prone thus far. It's really hard to knock that pick because you just can't predict injuries.
Interesting you say that because Davis has been with the Jets for 16 years and was the man who scouted and recommended Geno Smith...
