I disagree entirely. They never let Tebow pass. Good luck successfully executing an offense when the other team knows you're not going to pass. That's not the player's fault, that's the idiot calling the offense's fault.
Tebow passed more often than Brad Smith did during his entire Jets career combined in 2012. Smith was far more successful than Tebow. Sparano is still a reject.
Wait, you mean a WR was better at running an offense where you don't pass (ever) than a QB? News at 11.
First of all they did pass, second Smith was a QB in college too. Tebow sucked at doing what they asked him to do. Smith was very good at it and didn't need the crutch of having to pass.
Tebow got a shot and threw the ball into the ground. He is not a QB he is a man who exploited the media to make money.
Tebow threw 8 passes last year. How many were on punts? 3 or 4 probably. If your opinion is that Tebow is at fault for not executing an offense where he got to throw once every four games, I don't know what to tell you. You're entitled to your opinion.
Because every other quarterback we had on the roster also sucks at passing and he couldn't do any worse.
I don't get where people come up with the idea that if Sanchez sucks, the ex-jet could ONLY be better. He CAN be worse. The ex-jet WAS worse. The Jets figured that out right away and moved him to punt protector. Why waste time giving him reps with the starters if he can't hit the broad side of a barn? So contrary to popular Tebow fanatic belief, he had far more chances than just about any crappy QBs get. He just couldn't get much game time with what he showed the coaches. The Broncos giving him a look at least made sense since they had a first rounder they aquired by trading two second rounders and a third for invested in him. Gave him a hard look and dealt him away at first opportunity.
Why do so many people believe that there is no such thing as training camp and practice? Don't you think he was given a chance in TC, preseason and practice and just didn't cut it? Just because he didn't get to throw more than 8 passes the whole year doesn't mean he wasn't given a chance.
So apparently at least one offensive starter agrees with the conspiracy theory. Rex was afraid Tebow would succeed.
Hopefully this forces a true QB competition on the Jets this year and it's not given to one guy or the other. 99% it will be Sanchez or Geno. Probably Geno if he gets his head in the right place.
That's what I believe. I don't think Rex (or anyone else) believed Tebow would come in and perform better than Sanchez. But I do believe Rex (and everyone else) was panicked that he might come in and perform better than Sanchez (just like he did in Denver) and then they wouldn't be able to get rid of him. So the lied to him all season and refused to play him. The fear was not: "Oh no, if we play Tebow we might got 4-12 instead of 6-10." The fear was: "Oh no, if we play Tebow, there's a teeny-tiny chance we might win the last three games. And then we'll never get rid of him." They were afraid he might win. That's an embarrassing reason not to play someone and that's an embarrassing reason to cut a player (who's better than other players you have on your roster *cough* Matt Simms *cough*).
so you truly believe rex was happier going 6-10 with mark than if he had gone 9-7 with timmy? thats incredible to me that people can believe that. secondly, tim was cut because he saves cap room, has no practice squad elgibility and the background noise is not worth keeping him around for a camp arm. matt simms has all of those qualities
Tebow sucked. He was a dirt thrower that had to whirl his arm around like some weirdo. He was the kid who didn't realize that there are actually things some people can't do.
Hey he can play for a team for $75 a week if he wants. That is how good he is... Oh and its not for the QB position hahaha
