New Coaching Staff, new Offense, new Defense and we win our first game. We're only going to get better from here and we'll need to because the competition is gonna get a lot tougher.

If we can take down the Patriots next week this could be a fun season, alot more than many of us hoped for. :jets:

What do you thinks our chances are?

NE really has had our number. Belichick certainly knows how to scheme against Chad as evidenced by the # of INT's he's thrown against the Pats. No running game for the Jets = 1-1 after next week.

I think Chad will be up to the task if the OL is. The young line is going to be tested next week. They will grow from the experience.

The true test for this team will come in week 6 against the fish if we can get to 2 & 3 with a win over Buffalo or NE. We get a divisional split and the game with Miami is meaningful for the playoffs this year.

It's to early to say what we are yet. Beat the Bills and hang in there with NE, IND and JAX that's a realistic test for this team. If we can deal with the Bills and steal one of those other 3 games we will be legitimately in the hunt for the playoffs.

At this point coming off what we did last year every game is a true test. so far we passed the 1st test, hopefully we can get lucky and pass week #2 as well.

Well our coach should have a good understanding of the patriots schemes so that should help.

If we can establish some sort of running game we have a chance, but this team is on a whole nother level then the one we barely managed to beat. We can't afford the fumbles and bad Special Teams this time around.

Yes, I totally agree. We must run the ball very effectively against NE to have a decent shot.

I really think we need to get Brad Smith more involved in the game, even as a half back. When he touches the ball good stuff seems to happen.

The Pats struggled against a weak Bills team. I don't think the Pats are as good as everyone thinks. They lost a lot of their leaders... but Brady+Belly is still a dangerous combo. I don't think the Jets are going to get destroyed, but they will be heavy underdogs. I think they will hold their own. They have a shot... a small one, but still a shot.

While we climbed a small mountain yesterday successful however, there is a much bigger mountain in front of them this Sunday to overcome. Hopefully we can reach the top this Sunday as well. It should be interesting man genus (Belly) vs boy genus (Mangini)

i think we have a great chance, as long as we take what we did sunday and build on that

there is obviously room for improvement, and tom brady isn't likely to have as poor a game as he did against buffalo again

but i am excited as hell for sunday

I'm sure Brady is very familiar with Ball... if you know what I mean.

4 things we must do against them.

    1) Run the ball decently
    2) Contain Dillon and Maroney
    3) Protect Pennington, Protect Pennington.
    4) Make any field goals

And another thing, I don't see us coming back if we fall more than 10 points or so behind. We can't fall behind early.

I think the one distinct edge we have is that we are at home...the fans are going to be N-U-T-S, the pats still lack a true WR threat...and Pennington should be able to have a decent game as the Pats are not the same team they were.

The Jets still have to keep the fans in the game. That close game to Buffalo might wake the Pats up. Belichick can't be pleased with their performance at all. So the question I will have for next week is who will come out more ready? I think by halfway through the first quarter we'll all know what direction the game is going to take.

I saw some of the second half. Seemed to me that they moved the ball on the ground almost at will, but ran out of people catching Brady's throws. An obvious problem for them.

Defensively, at least in what I saw, Buffalo wasn't doing much at all. But I heard one of the post-game shows praising JP Losman, so the parts that I missed must have been dramatically different.

And, in other news, I've mentioned before on this board that I do some work with a handful of Patriots front office people. The emails have started. Earlier than expected.

    . . . . this should be a long week.

J.P. was tearing the Pats apart in the first half. It felt like I was in an alternate universe.

The entire difference in that game is the Bills failed on a 4 & 1 & from that moment on the mo changed to the Pats side of the field. That play took all the steam out of the Bills & they were inept after that play after looking like world beaters up to that play
