Poor value Overpaid Bad trade I like the player a lot and I think he will be a great addition. My issue is that I think we could've landed Lattimore with the 4th who when healthy is one of the best RB prospects I've seen in years.
Dumb trade.. Not worth a 4... No clue what the GM is doing.. Still have needs for playmakers, Safety, and someone who can rush the passer..
We don't have the LBs for a 3-4 anymore. But if we don't have enough good LBs to run a 3-4 base defense, we certainly don't have enough for a 4-6.
So everybody do this: close your eyes and imagine that the Jets can actually give the ball to Chris Ivory 250 times next year. What does that look like to you? Now imagine that they can give the ball to Mike Goodson 200 times. If they can do that the Jets are probably rushing for 2,000 yards next year. Whoever they have playing QB is going to have a bunch of guys up in the box trying to stop that. There's some profit there. If the Jets actually have a defense and some profit on offense? Ok, so intensive visualization process over. Ivory will probably sprain both ankles in training camp next year and things will regress from there. But I can dream in the meantime.
Oh please. I like Lattimore, but he really wasn't that great even before the second injury. I think his story gets him hyped up just a bit.
Two picks I don't get Richardson and Winters.. They just signed a Guard tonight Peterman, Colon earlier, plus Dumbass.. Really you need 4 Guards.. I would have rather grabbed one in the 1st Round of Richardson.. Good player, don't know how he fits in with the Jets.. The Ivory trade was bad trade.. If he was such a beast you don't draft RB in the first round after his breakout season... And anyone who says he was sitting behind Ingramn because he was a #1 forgot to look at Felix Jones in Dallas, who lost his job tonMurray.. And the saints had the worst running game last year.. What a waste
Well a 46 defense isnt a 4-6. You dont need 6 linebackers... Richardson-Ellis-Wilkerson mirroring the guards and center and the Coples will rush lined up over the tackle and Harris and Davis at LB. Pace can also rush, so can Barnes and Coples can kick inside. Multiple formations.
No, we don't need 6 actual LBs, but we don't have enough safeties to do it either. We've got the four lineman, but after that, we've got Harris, Davis, Pace...Landry. Wilson I guess can line up as a OLB? I honestly don't know who we have left.
Man, I love reading your posts. Ivory is the definition of a beastmode RB, he just hasn't been able to stay healthy, so the Jets get him for a 4th. While certainly not identical, the player style, including the health situation to a degree, remind me a lot of another guy that Idzik is familiar with - Marshawn Lynch. Again, he's not the same, but both are hard nosed, gritty backs who also can make people miss a bit more than expected. Here are some Ivory highlights from last year. Ignore the actual plays, because they're obviously only him at his apex, and instead look at the style. I've liked this guy for a while, and am really excited that our favorite team is the one with a chance to reap his potential.
Had he not been injured the second time he would've been a top 10 selection this year. There's no hype to it, the kid plays like Marshawn Lynch but quicker lateral movement. If there's a 50/50 chance you can get that kind of a player in the 4th you take it. Someone will you can bet on that and I guarantee it pays off.
They could cut McKnight. According to overthecap.com, cutting McKnight would save $630,000 in cap space. Not a lot, but every little bit helps and we have no need of him anymore.
