Jets selected Kent State G Brian Winters with the No. 72 overall pick. Winters (6-foot-4, 320) made 50 starts at Kent State and has a decorated wrestling background, which comes in handy in the trenches. Primarily a left tackle in college, Winters' 32 3/4-inch arms will kick him inside to guard. He blocks with a brawler's aggression and should have little trouble with the position switch. The Kent State product could immediately challenge for a starting job and his nastiness in the trenches will not go unnoticed. Good pick, I guess......
It fills a need him along with Brick, Colon, Mangold, Vlad and Howard should be solid. Hopefully we can add another o lineman through free agency.
great pick. idzick is doing good work. bpa in the 1st and 2nd and fills a need in the 3rd. he seriously might have drafted 4 starters already
I think that he played tackle but was drafted to play guard. Should be a solid pick up. I hope we can either trade back into the 3rd to get Stedman Bailey, or wait for him in the 4th.
Good pick, I wish they would have taken Christine Michael instead of Geno Smith and it would have been one hell of a second day in my opinion. Instead Seattle got the best RB in the draft and just helped out Russell Wilson.
I'm pretty happy with this pick. I was watching his film and I think he's going to do well. His lead blocking is impressive when he pulls. Pretty strong blocking. Good enough to start on the Jets, that's for sure.
A GM with a plan? I can't remember the last time I saw a draft where the best available player was taken by us in almost every round. Winters was the obvious pick here. A nasty RT/OG who can step in and start at OG right away with proper coaching. Very good pick and value. Now get a TE, S and OLB somewhere later on. I like this GM so far. Stays true to the board and just get talent. And no reach 2nd round OT's from his small school alma mater. Tannenbaum....what a disaster.
