It requires more than just a QB to revive a franchise. It takes good quarterbacking coaching, and a long-term plan. That franchise QB must be part of every personnel decision. You have to continue to provide weapons for that QB. It's not that simple, you need a plan at the end of the day. No QB goes into a franchise with all the knoweldge needed to bring that team back from irrelevance. Peyton Manning needed Marshall Faulk to bring him up to speed. You had great coaching in Parcells, Walsh and Belichick that had a plan. If your going to dick around like we did with Sanchez or with what the Texans did with David Carr, the fans will be in a world of hurt. Which is why we now have a 5000 post topic this issue.
Andrew Luck say Hi. The bottom line is a franchise QB is the key ingredient to being a successful franchise. All that other stuff you bring up is tertiary to a franchise QB. You can't talk about those other peripherals until you get the Franchise QB. It starts and ends with that. The sooner the Jets realize that, the better off this franchise will be.
Bruce Arians - QB Guru also says hi. As mentioned in my previous post, you need a good support system around that QB, especially the OC / QB Coach. QB coach for Peyton Manning and OC for Big Ben. Did you even read my entire post? You draft that QB to be your franchise QB especially in the high rounds. BEFORE you even draft that QB, you must prepare the style of offense to be successful. All of that is talked about in the evaluation process. How can this QB succeed with us? Obviously the Jets did not think far ahead by keeping Schottenheimer. All factors should be decided before drafting that pick - you don't plan as you go along except for skill players
Yeah that recipe has worked for the last 40+ years.. When I say tank, I don't want to see players/coaches not trying to win. I want to see the GM plan for the future by getting younger, clearing up cap space and by not bringing in a QB like Fitzpatrick who will only lead us to a couple 7-9 seasons. Ask Indy if that 1-15 season was worth it a couple of years ago. The answer is already yes.
