This team is headed for a 4-12 season. Which means you can't watch a
    single game sober.

I don't get it. We cut players like eric smith and now you're crying about it? Who did we lose? Only Landry, everyone else sucked, overpaid or old. Holmes and Revis out for most of season and we still won 6 games. This thread is pathetic.

I think we'll be surprisingly competitive. No playoffs though.

some of you guys obviously haven't been jet fans long enough if you have to cope with watching this team next season.

as i mentioned in a previous post, the jets aren't exactly known for a "winning tradition"

Are some seriously thinking that if we retained most all the ones we cut we would have a more exciting season than bitting the bullet and cleaning house with the over the hill gang and see what the youngsters can do?
I am far more excited in seeing the development of the future jets and the new draft players than the agony we were subjected to last year.
If in the process the future QB emerges out of somewhere much the better.

It's going to be a different sort of season, but it'll still be fun.

We're not Superbowl competitors this year or even close, so I'll have lower expectations. Instead of fretting about each and every game, I'll take solace in the improvement of the young kids. See which players are helping to build a good young foundation. Who is improving? Who is making a case for more playing time? It'll almost be more of an analytical season, more so than a results based season.

We haven't won for so many years, so rebuilding isn't a shock to our system anymore. What I hope happens is that we rebuild the right way. Take our time, and slowly build up our foundation, rather than cave into fan pressure and start going for it halfway through. I'd rather be competitive for a long time after 3 years of rebuilding, than competitive for 2 years after 1 year of reloading.

I will cope by endlessly cheering for Kerley to set an NFL record that will never be broken by having more fair catches over a 2 year period than anybody in history...

I think we should just lose every game, scrap Sanchez, restructure Davis Harris's contract with low-guarantee high-incentive bonuses unless incentive bonuses affect the cap. Then we beg Wayne Chrebet to unretire and start alongside Kerley and Hill. I call this plan, "Clowning for Clowney!" Ba dum tss! ;)

I will be at metlife stadium wearing my revis NY Titans throwback and NY Titans knit hat cheering my team on. There is a lot worse things going on in the world I am blessed with great health to be able to meet all my obligations in life.

So I am going to sit down in the stadium and cheer for my favorite team on Sunday. In the grand scheme of things I don't feel bad about living in the greatest country on Earth to watch my favorite team suck. Besides, I believe this season will turn out better thenmost of us think!

It can't be worse than last year. Even if we have less wins. We have more weapons now than we did most of last year. A better RB situation. WR rookies are deep this year. And we don't have to play the 9ers or Seahawks (though the Falcons will be just as tough).

I see us splitting with Miami and Buffalo, winning over Cleveland, Oakland, Tennessee, and either Tampa or Carolina. And another close game with the Ravens... they might be in for as bad a season as we are. But the draft hasn't happened yet and free agency isn't over either.

Home Buffalo, Miami, New England, Cleveland, Pittsburgh, New Orleans,
    Tampa Bay, Oakland

Away Buffalo, Miami, New England, Baltimore, Cincinnati, Atlanta, Carolina,
    Tennessee

Hell, I might go to either the Atlanta or Carolina game.

But all this doesn't matter because if I told you that the Redskins will win the division and the NFC west became the strongest division in the NFL last March I would have been laughed at.

And can we please get the Patriots early at home? those patriots wins in 09 and 10 propelled our season early, the last 2 years we had to wait till the 2nd half to get em in our building. Id rather get them early and measure ourselves early on,

It has the potential to be very bad. These last15 or seasons have been by far the best stretch in team history. I recall watching the Jets in the 70's and it was rough. Our biggest game of the year every year for a long time was the Giants pre-season game. The regular season never mattered as it was generally over with by week 4.

I don't want to go back to that type of football. There is some upside here in that Sanchez is on his way out and that should make us better. But we also have the potential to fall off a cliff. Losing Moore will really hurt us. Losing 2 LBs and 2 safeties will be hard to replace. Losing Revis will be be very bad as I doubt Cromartie can play up to the level he played last year. Unlike Revis Cros game is built so much on speed and athleticism meaning he will likely not age as well as a guy like Revis that does not depend on speed. I don't see a guy like Cro doing to tell well down the road after 30.

But the biggest loss will be Rex. Remember how Rex took a bad defense and made them great simply by being here. That defense of his allowed us to compete even without a NFL caliber QB. If we stink up the joint this year and Rex goes so goes our defense and that is when we can have a great fall into a decade of badness. Unless we can find a franchise QB I am afraid we will be in for some very rough and lean years. But you never know with Sanchez gone this year, and if we hit in the draft with a Jordan type OLB, guard and safety along with some great improved QB from a journeyman castoff guy like Kolb or Garrard maybe we can surprise some people. I would be very happy to have a hold the fort survival year where we play hard and compete and come back better in 2014.

I for one am to old to go through another decade of ineptitude like the 70's or 90's. Life is simply to short to be a Jet fan.

I am a Fins fan and I don't think they are going to be as good as everyone is raving about. Free agents don't live up to big contracts. I think the Fins could make a wild card spot. And that would be a big step forward.

As for the Jets, I think this is going to be a rough year. But after this year, once they have gotten out of cap hell they can rebound. It all depends on your QB play. That's your biggest weakness this year.

it's a rebuilding season. it will be tough to watch, our schedule is a tough one.

all the more better to get Jadeveon Clowney or Teddy Bridgewater in 2014.

This is the Jets - we will be just good enough next year to miss out on a "can't miss" QB prospect, take the #2 or #3 QB prospect and then watch him disappoint.

Let's facew it this is a QB league - if you dont have a good QB you are not going to have any great success - and we are as far away from have a good QB situation as any team in the NFL (or possibly the CFL for that matter).

Every fan whos knows just a tiny bit about about the Jets knows that we have been in 'rebuild' for the last 40+ years. Sometimes we get it nearly right but always seem to fall at the last fence by getting the 'final piece of the jigsaw' via some money grabbing FA who couldn't give a shit about the Jets or its organisation.
My hope for this season onwards is watch the draft and see how all our young dudes step up.
I'm all for taking things slowly so long as the process does not get derailed. I said in another thread, problem with most fans is that they can't do patience.

Going with the flow. Checking for the development of many of our younger players. I don't expect much from the 2013 season.
