Dude, let's level set...your making OT out....like I'm anointing Nacho the second coming...that's not the case.

There are two main points you can't udge any QB on the basis of last years offense.

    And secondly....

Gholston, we knew he was a bust when Rex got more out of Maybin, then he did Gholston.

Sanchez, otoh...has not had the benefit of a decent offensive staff...if you go back and look at my posts previously, what I said was..realistically the Jury is still out...long stretches of Bad play, but flashes of a guy that should have gone five overall, the organization would only be prudent to try to not waste a second top 10 pick....and set themselves back.

Schotty should have been fired when Penny was still here, and the club was victimized by the early success after Rex was hired. Much like the other side of the coin when Mangenious got credit for winning 10, eeven though he inherited a 10 win team that played without its starter the previous season.

There much continuity, on the roster as it stands, and my feeling is...continuity is the key to consistency, and success,....which was the basis of the other posts.

(one minor point...go back and look at Penny and Favre under Schotty...his "system" costs a QB about 10 QBR points a season.

Not to say Nacho will get ten more...but the guy is awful.

If Schotty was as bad as you make him out to be then why did Jeff Fisher give him a job? Maybe he looked at extenuating circumstances and saw that Pennington/Favre/Sanchez were all either broken or bad QBs. For the record I don't think Schotty is good. I think you are overstating the effect of the offensive coordinator on a QBs accuracy/decision-making, which are probably the 2 biggest things a QB needs these days. The QB always has BY FAR more impact on those things just by simple common sense. The QB is the one acting.

Because coaches in this league are like an old boys club. Rather than find a guy that might be ready to step up, they get a recycle.

You tell me...play head ccoach for a minute.

Go back and look at Schottys results...he had Pennington,Favre,Sanchez..and (now) look at the times when Penny and Favre were injured....he shot the Bed.

You have to blame a whole lot of players to have any faith in this guy.

The second part of that answer...,is he probably interviews well...it's not that he doesn't have a shitload of football knowledge...he'd have probably been a decent OC 15 years ago...but defensive head coaches it seems..when they here him lay it out...still think in that mentality.

Long developing pass plays...weird attempts at trickerarion ... .always calling the games 180 degrees from the obvious circumstances...

    You wouldn't have hired him.

And no..I'm not overestimating that part of it. We sort of agree there...my point is..you design the play calling to mitigate those flaws until/or as a method of fixing them.

Which brings us back to my original point....with a decent OC here...now Nacho is on the clock.

Sure but if you need to bring in a good OC to make a QB look good that can't look good on his own then that still makes Sanchez a stop-gap until they find a QB that can look like a top 5 drafted QB no matter what and then paired with a good OC he can put the team on his back if need be and justify a contract that eats up a good % of the cap and still make the playoffs when the talent erodes. Sorry for the run-on

Look, we actually agree on much, it's just that as a pro Jets individual...I want the organization to go in the most prudent and successful direction, based on how I see other good teams operate.

As a non jets fan, your first reaction is the polar opposite, everyone sucks.

I try to build, you like to tear down...even when we agree on the big picture...

Not at all. As a fan, first and foremost I understand that my views mean absolutely nothing as it pertains to what happens. So it doesn't really make sense for me to delude myself into thinking a rival team's players suck when they don't.

Lol I'm not trying to do anything except call it like I see it. I watch every Jets game because Sanchez has become a sort of schadenfreud for me, and what I see is a guy that gives the Phins a better chance to win when we play you guys. I pray to god he is your QB next year.

If you don't like the Jets, just go. Why waste everyone's time with inane thoughts about how terrible they are going to be. Believe me, you won't be missed and maybe you can find inner peace with the Giants or Patriots.

Seriously, Jets start 1-0 or 2-1, and people will get behind the team. Late in the season, it could be ugly, but early on, people will be there.

    Completely wrong..

Sanchez is a straight up bum. His main problem is that his release is way too slow and the only reason he had any success was the running game.

The jury is in and he is guilty. You must not be watching the games or work for Woody.

    Mrs Scottenheimer I presume?

Nothing I said about the coaching carousel or Scotty is inaccurate.

The retread habit in the coaching ranks is common knowledge, and any honest account of Schottys tenure reflects what I wrote.

He killed Pennington several times. And the only thing that's kept Sanchez on the field is the fact that he's not brittle.

The way the team is looking right now, I have no desire to pay hundreds of dollars to see them play.

Watching from my couch will do. If things shape up, who knows.

I can't afford the PSL but every season I've been able to catch about 4 home games through stubhub. Last year, I was able to get upper deck seats for less than $35 multiple times. Just get hammered before I reach the stadium (I take train, don't drive) & sneak in food.

If money is the most important factor, then give the secondary market a shot.

Dude, that's a bit of an outlandish claim to make, don't you think? Sanchez is still QB, the RB situation is shaky, and the WRs are still among the worst groups in the league.

Closer now than ever before doesn't seem accurate at all.

I think most will be behind the team, even if Sanchez is the starter, from day 1. I for one will root for Sanchez if he is the starter, and I hate just about everything about him. As a fan in the off-season, especially after the past 2 seasons, we have a right to hope he isn't the starter.

For the Record, if Sanchez is the starter next year, I will hope I can eat my hat.
