I know we need to get younger, but do we bring back Abe? Would he be a good player to bring in for obvious passing spots? I doubt he would be an every down player any more. Can we afford him? Should we look to bring him back?
He's still very productive - had 10 sacks in '12 which is nearly double the Jets sack leader (coples 5.5) and had 7 deflected passes. I don't think he's going to be cheap or just a 3rd down guy. If we don't pick up an OLB early in the draft I'd try to bring him in. Turner doesn't fit Morningwood's offense.
He racked up 10 sacks last year. If he came cheap, which I doubt, I'd welcome him.. I know we need to move to younger and faster guys, but we can't fix every whole on the team in 1 year.
Dunta Robinson is also getting released. I don't necessarily think we need to get him, but his availability could hurt trade opportunities for Revis.
This guy is a piece of shit who quit on the Jets last time he was here. Now Jets should rescue him with a contract while his career is ending? No way.
Aside from one more year at QB we want to get younger across the board, not older. This isnt a team needing a couple short term pieces for a SB run.
I was going to start a Dunta Robinson thread but decided against it...here is fine. I agree with the above poster. Him being available could alter the market for Revis...even if by a little. Having said that, anyone interested in bringing Dunta in if the price were right?
I like Abraham, but agree-why do we always try and pick up day-old bargains? If a guy has just come off a back surgery, a knee surgery and is 35 years old...we want him...oh wait...
Each situation is different between 35 year olds. The Jets biggest defensive weaknes is clearly pass rush. Those guys don't come cheap and young ones are not available in free agency. So with no other options than taking a chance in the draft, why wouldn't Abraham make sense to at least take a look at? BTW - He hasn't been a 3 down player for Atlanta the last two years. The Falcons used him two downs at a time or strictly pass rushing situations in order to keep him healthy.
JAbe is old and injury-prone at this point. He's played 16 games 3 times in a 13 year career. Even if he came in here and played well he'd be a coin flip to be too battered to play in the playoffs if the Jets made it. There's no chance the Falcons would be releasing him if they thought he was worth anything in the playoffs. They're one of the teams most likely to get there next year and they just had the unhappy circumstance of being without his services when they needed it most at the end this year. You want to hear something really crazy? In 2008 JAbe had 16.5 sacks and did not make the Pro Bowl. Despite 122 sacks in his career and 2 All-Pro designations JAbe has only been to the Pro Bowl 4 times.
Would love to break out the ol' #94 jersey Oh wait, I burned that piece of shit years ago. Fuck this selfish asshole.
