I wanted to make this thread because I've been up since 9 AM this morning and I couldn't go back to sleep. I am so excited for today's game I feel like I did when I was younger going to sleep on Christmas Eve. The reason I made this thread was to adddress one player in particular and if you couldn't tell by the thread name that player is Chad Pennington. Chad was the sole reason I got into watching football. He is the sole reasaon that when I started to watch football I became a Jet fan. I followed Chad during his 2002 season and it was that magic that he worked that made me fall in love with the game of football and have faith in the Jets. i know a lot of you have become skeptics of him since then and despite my disagreement with that stance I understand it. It is a well founded thought to think Chad's career is over. For me though, he embodies what football is all about. I think it would be one of the greatest comeback stories to successfully return from this injury. I realize that with Mangini as our new head coach there is a very real chance that even if Chad performs well this season he will get traded anyways. I understand we have our quarterback of the future in Clemens and that is fine. I just want to see Chad do well... plain and simple. I can't wait for this game and I can't wait for this season. This is the first season I've watched as a Jet fan and pretty much knew we wouldn't make the playoffs and yet I don't care. I am just as excited for this season (if not more) as I was for the ones following '02. Lets hope for a W today against the Titans and lets hope Chad does well. Like my posting name says: In Chad We Trust
:beers: This is for Chad. I hope he does well so all the haters get quiet. I admit at times I am dissapointed in Chad, and say negative thing, but that's okay. Chad is playing, and it's time to back him up.
They gotta go back to the dink and dunk offense. I dont wanna say I admired Paul Hackett for playing that type of offense in retrospect, but if Pennington throws short, quick passes than he can use that accuracy to his advantage. If we play a true west coast offense this year, not the Hackett version of a west coast (run on 1st and 2nd down and throw and incomplete pass on 3rd to go 3 and out) then I can see Chad returning to his 2002 form.
What did Pennington ever do that can make you disappointed in him??? Everything negative has been out of his control - injuries the most notable thing. Him being the starting QB this year is quite an accomplishment and something that NOBODY would have predicted after week 3 last year. How can you be disappointed in a player with as much heart and desire as Pennington?
He had an EXCELLENT game. He showed the long ball and the short and intermediate passes. The only reason this game was close was because of Mike Nugent. Chad had a great game.
