I would not be surprised if Scott is back at a lower number. Pace really fell off the table, though, and did not have the excuse of an injury. I think he's gone.

I wouldn't be surprised if they really did go after Ray Lewis, but got turned down. I just couldn't see Ray Lewis leaving Baltimore ever besides retirement.

  3. That was not the consenus back in 09. Lewis was thought to be on his last leg & not really poised to be an upgrade over the departing Eric Barton.

The perception of Scott was Physical, downhill backer just entering the prime of his career.

The mistake the Jets have made w/ Scott was giving him a 5 year deal & sticking w/ him as a starter for too long.

Scott was an excellent pickup for the Jets. He was one of the leaders in a brand new defensive scheme that led Jets to AFFCG twice & he was productive on the field. Lots of plays where he'd blow up blockers where others can clean up by tackling an exposed ball carrier. The problem with Bart Scott is that Jets held onto him way too long. Too many are judging Scott's entire Jets tenure with the terrible play he put out last season & not so good performance the season before.

Scott to the Jets was brilliant. Scott still on the team last season was a blunder.

I think it had a lot to do with the perception of David Harris being a top up and coming ILB at the time too. Lewis wouldn't have been playing the role Scott did for us.

  6. I don't really think Harris's play has gotten any better or worse since 09. He's a very good downhill cold weather ILB. The problem is he just isn't much of an athlete when you get him out in space. Teams have started to take advantage of it. It's almost to the point where he's a 2 down player

Harris isn't flashy but he does his job. He only got turned around horribly once this season (Chris Johnson).

The 3-4 defense requires discipline. You need a rangy MLB in a 4-3. Harris fits his role just fine.

The Jets DID go after Ray Lewis. They went after both of them.

Yeah but that was because Ray Lewis wasn't going to leave Baltimore. Rex even stated that in an interview when questioned on the subject. If the Jets went after him all it would have accomplished was to get Baltimore to pay him more.

Aside from internet rumors, what makes you think that Ray Lewis was leaving Baltimore?

Ihedigbo was a rotational safety for one of the worst defenses the Pats have fielded in the past decade. Not sure about the Ravens, but I know that his only on-field appearances in the Super Bowl were special teams appearances.

They both suck. You should try to find a better argument than this. There are plenty when it comes to Tanny's crappy personnel moves. You just don't seem intent on finding them.

The Jets were rumored to be pursuing Lewis. Which probably means they called his agent. Nothing after that was heard, except for pleas on Jets fan forums. They showed up at Bart's house because he was available.

This is for the benefit of people that think you know anything about football. You defended Pace early in this season, when it was clear to anyone that understands what they are seeing, that he had been done for a season and a half. He's slow, he avoids contact, and his pass defense is non-existence. It's been that way for quite a while.

The only thing that fell off the table is your limp hardon for Calvin Pace.

He was never really on the table.

Didn't Rex say in a press conference that he could have gone after Ray lewis but DIDNT and WOULDNT because of "what it means to the game" or something to that effect? I remember that. The Jets didnt go after him at all.

I always liked Bart Scotts personality and energy but he just isn't worth it at this point in his carerr. Davis should do alright in his spot if not will bring in someone new, He still has something left in the tank but not much, Demario Davis has crazy speed for a MLB hopefully he can develop into a double digit sack guy

Lol @ ppl saying Bart Scott was a bad signing. 4 straight top 10 Ds, he was part of that, an integral part. His role in 34 does not show up on the stat sheet -thumper ILB is supposed to blow up blocking scheme. His chirpage is unwarranted. He should be brought back on a cheap 1 year all while giving D Davis more reps. He can contribute on special teams.

Link or GTFO. Ray Lewis was never leaving Baltimore and Bart Scott proved to be a good signing.
