I feel truly sorry for that kid. I really do. If he had the throwing mechanic of Mark Sanchez, he'd be a franchise QB for any franchise.

Meh, Sanchez has poor mechanics as well, just not nearly as bad as Tebow's :)

But yeah, agree with your overall point.

    Sanchez's mechanics are just fine

It's the awful decision making and his confidence of a teenage girl that kills him.

Surely you jest. Sanchez is undeniably one of the most inaccurate passers ever.

But that's not due to his mechanics. That would be Fitzpathetic.

Depends on what you include in the definition of mechanics. Mark's footwork sucks. It's one of the reasons why he's inaccurate and gets the ball there late. His passes lack the zip that they should have.

    Talent, mostly.

Lack of abilities in reading defenses, and leading the league in three and outs. Having the worst completion percentage among the starters.

Great kid, shitty quarterback. Might salvage his career with a position change.

Nice find, Dennis. It explained a lot of what the critics have been saying about Tebow from the beginning. bad footwork, arm motion of trying to "muscle" the ball downfield. Answer was similar when asked why he was successful in Florida too when he had receivers that were open by a lot more than what he would enjoy on a more consistent basis in the NFL.

That media issue that follows him around hurts too. It probably would be a non-factor if the above wasn't a problem for him. Why NOT cover a popuar QB who is taking the league by storm with accurate passing to compliment his running ability and intangibles?

Most of the "hatred" stems from all the attention he gets when he simply isn't a good QB. Nowhere near enough to match all circus that surrounds him. I mean, come on!!! Press conferences for the backup?

    .....

Also, Mark Sanchez is a shitty QB too. Seriously, people are trying to prop Tebow up by pointing to Sanchez's mechanics? Comparing the two QBs is like comparing a couple of bugs. Interresting in some capacity, but both are very low on the food chain. Seriously, these are the plankton of starting QBs.

His career isn't over yet though. They said Steve Young was a great kid and horrible qb at Tampa Bay. Still mad at my Bucs for letting that one slip through their hands. Truth be told, this happens all the time in the NFL. Sometimes it just doesn't work out, the problem is the media loves Tebow so much it follows him around every time he sneezes just to get ratings. If I were Tebow I would not do any more commercials and lay low as much as possible while trying to show a GM I'm serious about playing QB and putting up the numbers I did in high school and college. I think if Kaep can do it, so can Tebow. Kaep played baseball in high school just like Tebow did and they both have a loop in their throwing motion. The difference is, Kaep has a quicker release and is more accurate. If Tebow can get to the point where he can throw it "quicker" and "accurate" he will be fine. I know the announcers were drooling over Kaep's throwing ability but he wasn't asked to throw into tight windows much either. They called plays for him and brought him along you know like most coaches do for their young qbs that are still learning the game.

Anyways, Tebow has plenty of arm strength to make it. He has to quicken it up a little bit. All those "experts" that said his throwing motion is the problem are short sighted. Just get the football to the WR on time. Who the hell cares how it looks. Just get the football there on time and on target.

I've discussed Tebow's throwing motion ad nauseum with Tebow supporters and they're right about one thing. There's been plenty of successful QBs whose throwing motions have been just as far from "textbook." So Tebow doesn't really need to change his motion, just tighten it up and make it more consistent. Then he should see a jump in accuracy and have the ball come out of his hand faster.

The problem is that Tebow still struggles to read Defenses and has a slow, loopy delivery. Those two things together slow him down too much. Either one by itself is tolerable, but combined they are killing him. A quick fix to improve performance is to concentrate on just one aspect. I think that getting Tebow to become tighter and more consistent in a motion he already has is a far easier coaching effort than to teach him to think faster or differently deciphering what the Defense is doing...

That's pretty much it right there. Some of his flaws when it comes to throwing are probably tolerable if they wre his only problem. Some tebowmaniac can find a clip of successful QBs that had a similar windup. others a similar release, and still others with the footwork. Ufortunately, Tebow has that problem in ALL areas, which severely hurts his accuracy. add that to a difficulty reading defenses and slow delivery, you can see why he struggles so much to complete passes. That is a lot of flaws to overcome after a lifetime of bad habits, many of which still cause him problems to this day. one of the Bronco coaches were quoted as saying he had gotten a lot better in practice with it and such, but he keeps reverting back to his old habits when put under stress in a game. Goes back to what worked in college when he could most of the time count on his receivers having 2 or 3 steps ahead of the defenders.

Oh lord lol. The Sanchez fans say that shitty QB will end up as Eli and the Tebow guys think that shitty QB will be Steve Young

This particular cause of his inaccuracy only showed up midway in 2011. He doesn't set his feet well any more because he hears footsteps all around him.

He had excellent velocity on his mid-range throws until the line started having real problems on the edges in 2011. He was still inaccurate but the footwork and velocity weren't the primary causes the way they are now.

thanks for the info. Partially explains why he looked a lot better in college than he does now.
