Supposedly we're shopping Revis for a 1st rd pick and change... assuming the team that trades for him is a contender with cap space (Denver?) the 1st rd pick we'll get is going to be in the 20-32 range. In this draft (in any draft really) that is a perfect spot to either draft: - One of the best QBs (except Geno Smith who will go higher) - One of the best WRs (maybe not Patterson but the rest should be there) - The best TE in the draft (Eifert/Ertz) - The best RB in this draft (I don't see any back that might go Top 20 this year) - The 3rd best OT or the 2nd best OG or a versatile OL (Johnson/Cooper/Fluker) I know we should always go BPA, but ideally out of the above options which one would you prefer in order to help this struggling offense out? PS Basically the players I'm assuming will be gone are: Joeckel, Fisher, Warmack, Patterson, G. Smith
I'm sick of having Keller the midget (even though he supposedly would have value in the WCO)... I think he's over-rated and in our cap space scenario I wouldn't want to spend money on him. Give me Eifert or Ertz (haven't made up my mind on who's better yet) and we'll finally have a real threat at the TE position, in the red zone and as a safety blanket for our QB (and god knows how Sanchez or a rookie will need one).
If Jets get 1/2 out of Revis, Jets should double down on OL and OLB. 3/4 can be spent on safeties (if there) or RB/TE
assuming we go olb with the 9, i'd take ol with the revis pick. wouldn't be upset with a t.e. either. no wr though, when healthy, they aren't as bad as everyone thinks
would love bernard in the 20s but warmack and jones would be the two i want if they are there at our [picks
Are you assuming DJ Fluker will be gone? Because Fluker may be both BPA and fill a huge need for us at RT. Fluker can play RT or RG from Day 1. If we are trading Revis in this scenario, then we will free up a ton of cap space to sign a RT (Loadholt or Cherilus) or an OL of: LT: D'Brick LG: Moore C: Mangold RG: Fluker RT: Loadholt That would go A LONG WAY toward re-establishing our success on offense and our entire team's success. When we have an overpowering offensive line we were able to run the ball, and that was able to set up Mark's relative "success" as a passer taking the pressure of leading the offense to points off his shoulders.
I'd like to see how Austin Howard fares in Morhinweg's offense - he's been with the Eagles in the past.
......and he's been cast off by the Eagles in the past. It's probably worse that he was already with Morhinweg's offense and was cast aside than if he showed well with the us and Morhinweg had never had him before.
I still find it blasphemous that we're shopping the best player at his position arguably in the HISTORY of the game for what will amount to likely an above-average guard, but in this scenario, I probably take Ertz depending on what happens with Keller. I'd maybe go Fluker and move Howard to RG. Killing two birds with one stone. Ferguson-Ducasse-Mangold-Howard-Fluker isn't too shabby.
if we end up having two firsts I want OL/pass rush at 9, then receiver/tight end later in the round, or pass rusher if we took OLine first.
He was not cast off by Morhinweg. It was Howard Mudd the o-line coach that wanted a smaller more mobile line.
I think we wind up with the Jet's traditional hole at LG if we do this. People that might be there on say the 26 pick probably include G Jonathan Cooper, OT DJ Fluker, WR DeAndre Hopkins and then the RB's and TE's who ace the combine and maintain position as others don't and drop around them.
