what I like most about the newbie homer crowd is that I can totally see if I came of age in the last decade and chose the Jets as my team, Rex Ryan and his first two years are really a big deal. As is Mark Sanchez for that matter given his role as the starting QB of the Jets. I wish I had no understanding of time before that as well. Herm Edwards and Chad even gave them something to cheer for earlier last decade.

This is very true. Since Parcells came in 1997, things have been a lot better than they were before that. If your only experience with the Jets is the last 14-15 years, you don't know Same Old Jets the way we do. You need a broader view....haha

It is one thing to hear and read about it, but until you've actually lived and suffered through it, you will never know. I do hope for all our sakes, that Ryan pulls a rabbit out of his hat next season. By that I mean a SB win for the Jets, to put an end to all our misery.

Sorry fellow NYJ fan based on what is on the roster presently your post would be like hitting lotto. Maybe 5 years from now there is a shot but more likely it will take 7/10 years

No that is where U R totally incorrect. If U & others would take the time to assess the roster with your head & not your heart then we would all be on the same page if U did the assessment properly.

you are right... on paper, but don't tell me it hasn't been done before. At this time of year, (especially after the love fest displayed by the owner yesterday) I am going to all optimism. It doesn't mean that I don't still think Rex Ryan/Sanchez should never have been hired, but until the games get played out next season, I'm expecting a SB championship, (And yes, it would be like winning the lotto)

The good thing about today's NFL is that it isn't a long rebuilding process anymore. The issue to me is not that we're so far away because of the roster or even because of Rex Ryan, to whom I am staunchly opposed. The real problem is that I don't trust the Jets braintrust to make the right moves and stay the course to build towards a winner. If they were smart, they could get this turned around in a couple of years and work towards serious contention. But they're going to do what they always do, reload, get halfway decent, and then push all the chips into the middle with AA/KK - while there will be several other players at the table with 3 of a kind or better.

This is my concern as well, and the real issue I have with the homer optimists at this point.

They see it as theoretically possible that the Jets can fix the team in the next three, some even say two, years.

Well, it is possible, as I said before, IF they can get a decent replacement for Sanchez, can manage the cap, fill enough other holes, get a new OC who knows what he is doing, and start scoring points. It is possible to do those things in three years. Even in two, although less likely to be sure.

The problem as you say is that there is no real reason to think the Jet organization will be able to accomplish those things given the present approach and recent history.

The homers apparently do not see the organization as a hindrance in moving forward, and that includes Woody. I think Woody and his way of doing things is a huge problem, and I have no real confidence in him.

team you see there every sunday most often will be the opposition scoring tds off suckchise picks/fumbles. too bad I can't get copyright residules on the buttfumble. would have enough money to buy the bills from ralph.

move them to Rochester, where we have enough people and income to support a team. without having to play games in Canada for revenue purposes.

I find Gary Myers to be the absolute worst, most obnoxious sports writer in NY. I refuse to click that link.

There are many of us who watched the Jets win a Super Bowl and would like to see another win. I do feel sorry for the fans who may never see that happen.

Woody Johnson as the owner is gambling even more with his decisions. While he acts like he has all the time of a Ralph Wilson (94 years old), his paternal lineage says something else altogether. Woody is 65, his father died at 50, grandfather at 74 and great grandfather at 64. While I wish him no ill will, if the thought of not winning a Super Bowl before he dies hasn't crossed his mind then one of two things or maybe both are true: a)The Jets are a toy, an ego boosting attention getter and nothing more b)He's a fool

I going on year 53 now of being a NYJ fan & except when Hess & his 3 other partners bought the NYTs & Soony Wberlin became the leader of the partners were they were well managed during that time. Then Hess got POed when Wberlin signed JWN without telling Hess so Hess bought him out & that became the beginning of the end for the NYJs that continues to this day of being mismanaged. Just by keeping RR is proof that they are stilled mismanaged. BOL to U of a SB Championship in Feb 2014 or 2015 or 2016, or 2017 or 2018 & beyond
