Having watched that presser today, I seriously doubt Woody Johnson will fire Rex. Again, I don't believe Rex should be fired, but since we fired our GM, the new one should have all options on the table.
Took this from the Giants website, looks pretty impressive to me:!! Marc Ross is in his fifth season as the Giants’ Director of College Scouting. Ross is in charge of the Giants’ college scouting department and the team’s draft. He joined the organization on May 18, 2007 and ran his first organizational draft the next year, when the Giants selected Kenny Phillips, Terrell Thomas and Mario Manningham, among others. Here are some of his notable picks since 2008: Kenny Phillips, Terrell Thomas, Mario Manningham, Ramses Barder, Hakim Nicks, Will Beatty, Mitch Petrus, Linval Joseph, JPP, Jaqcuin Williams (6th Rounder who's a productive player), Darel Scott (7th rounder who plays), Jarrell Jurnigan, Prince Amukamura, Jayron Hosely, Ruben Randle (looks like he's gonna be pretty damn good) and David Wilson. He was also actively working (though not heading the draft) in 07 when they drafted Aaron Ross, Ahmad Bradshaw (7th rounder), Steve Smith, Kevin Boss, Zach DeOssie. Obviously there are a lot of people that help in this process, but that list looks pretty impressive to me. I'd give Ross a shot! Plus, he'd be happy to be here because he's staying "home" as he's already working with the Giants.
Well gee, let's see. Ross was hired in 2007. Oversaw his first draft in 2008. That would include these players: Kenny Phillips Mario Manningham Hakeem Nicks Jason Pierre-Paul Prince Amukamara David Wilson Rueben Randle Yeah I can see what you mean, the guy totally sucks.
What about John Dorsey if Heckert is hired in KC? There still are some good options available, excluding anyone in-house, of course.
Actually, I wasn't all that excited about Ross, but I think I just convinced myself otherwise . I might want to go with him over the other available candidates, Gamble included! He's young, hungry and seems to have a great eye for talent. And quite frankly, we might hate the Giants, but there in no denying that they are one of the few organizations in the NFL that you actually strive to emulate. Though it's hard to say, they are one of the few "model" organizations I hope to be like!
LOL Look, I know we have problems, but Jacksonville? Really?! That team is such a piece of shit. How could anyone want to take over that mess!
As opposed to trading up for Sanchez or Stephen Hill? The team was already loaded , they added Jones who has taken their offense to new heights. Well worth the gamble as Jones was about as can't miss of a WR then we've seen in years.
No they won't. I swear people really have no idea how the economics work. The LA group is asking for significant stadium revenue (40%) AND a significant stake in a team (30-40%)... No smart businessman would ever go for that...
but yes, that's another good example. Although he wasn't drafted, he was picked up after the draft was completed as someone they had interest in as an undrafted rookie. While this is mostly luck, it was still a huge pickup on his watch!
- Caldwell signs with Jax (Jacksonville... Of all places. That shows how dysfunctional this franchise looks from the outside) - Gamble's 2nd interview didnt go well and no signs of anything on that front (pure speculation, but maybe he doesnt want to be a yes man? maybe he doesnt want Rex to have as much power as he does? Maybe Rex doesnt like him? which he shouldnt have a say in) - Scott Cohen names starts to pop up now (Probably someone Rex thinks he can hold a lot of power with. Maybe he's willing to be a yes man?) Maybe not time to panic, but it sure as hell isnt looking great.
