Just interested to see how quickly this process usually takes... Im hoping we have someone ready to start turning this team around by weeks end... what do you guys think?
If this drags on too long then they risk losing some of their top prospects. So I would suspect by next Monday or Tuesday at the latest to have a new GM named.
Likely a maximum of about two weeks or so. No more than that or they'll be far behind the curve with so many other openings out there. I think it's likely they do something by the beginning of next week.
They're going to want to move quick but I think it's going to drag out due to no quality GM will be beating down the Jets door to jump into this mess.
If I had to guess first interviews will be this week and maybe beginning of next week. Follow-ups after that. Earliest I'd say end of next week, most likely beginning of the following.
Brian Costello If Jets want to hire someone employed by a team in the playoffs, they have to wait for team's season to end unless team lets person leave
The Jets aren't hiring a coach, hiring a GM that works as a director of player personnel isn't going to hinder a team that is in the playoffs.
thats why i said AT LEAST 2 months... I dont want Woody to make a quick decision here... Tanne got us in cap hell... The next guy has to be someone who is prepared to build through the draft and add pieces in FA not cornerstones.
2 months is late Feb. To build throught the draft the GM needs to be in place ASAP. The new GM needs to be hired in the next 2 weeks to prepare for the Senior Bowl Practice week to evaluate talent.
Plus, he needs to hire his coaching staff before other teams do so. He needs to also get his scouting department in place before the senior bowl as you said and start the direction of this franchise moving forward.
We probably get one of the four candidates by Tuesday speaking how thats when they announced the press conference. Hopefully it's Gamble or the guy from Atlanta (can't think of his name ATM)
Any one we are likely to hire will still be evaluating talent whether for us or their current team. The only hurry is to get the best GM candidate available.
Not true. You need to have your GM in place to coordinate the process based on the needs of your team and work with the Jet's scouts. If we hire our GM within the next 10 days to 2 weeks, we will be fine for Senior Bowl week.
Just read that "There is virtually no chance the Jets will hire a new GM by next Tuesday's news conference." http://m.espn.go.com/nfl/story?storyId=8806573&city=newyork&wjb
We need gm represented in the meetings in New Orleans during the Super Bowl week so by then for sure.
With RR still in power, old GM fired but still be around, not easy to bring in a new GM. Especially the cap situation is not good. What makes things worse, there are so many GM job openings. Unless Woody opens checkbook and makes a ridiculous offer to his top candidate...
