If the Jets had a good qb would the OC be better? If the Jets had better wrs would the QB and the OC be better? I don't get how everyone is so + that Sporano is horrible given the fact that our QB and our skilled position of WRs were horrible. He has had only a year and the running game got alot better as the year progressed despite teams stacking the box. I guess Turner. etc are the sexy picks but I'm not sure they would have done any better with Sanchez and the Wrs the Jets had.
Ummm ever heard of Alfred Morris? The steal of the 2012 draft. The Skins are much more than just RGIII.
Considering that the team is going to a) hopefully fix Sanchez b) draft a young QB in the near future c) have a subpar QB next year It would nice to have someone who has a history of developing young QBs or being able to make young QBs overachieve. I don't think Sparano has this history.
meh, it's too early to tell where the Rams are headed. They looked absolutely lost when they played us and I have major questions regarding Bradford.
Yes, rebuild the right way. Draft a QB and wait 3-4 years before providing him with weapons and putting up a career high 7-8-1 win record. Awesome the way St Luis did that! Sorry, but if you can't win outside of your division as well, you'll never make the playoffs.
My issue with Sparano is that he avoids running the ball too often in short yardage situations. 1st and 5 from the 50 and he runs 3 straight pass plays. That's shotty style. 1st and goal from the 6, I think he runs it once out of 4 downs. Another Schotty like play. I feel the run game would be in the top 10 if not for 1. The late start of effectiveness which is understandable under a new system. 2. poor management of the run playcalling and 3. Abandoning the run prematurely in games (ie we'll be down 10 in the early 3rd quarter when there's still plenty of time to run, 2 carries for Greene in the entire 2nd half of last game proves that). Obviously you can't blame him for the execution of the passing game, but it seems discombobulated with people crowding each other routes, or running the wrong routes, not being on the same page with Mark.
You have a good point and I'm not an expert on whether Sparano was a good OC or not. One thing for sure, though, is that the way Tebow was used on offense was awful.
I wish we would have got Ray Lewis instead of Bart Scott when we got Rex. Ray Ray would never have put up with Sanchez's shitty play. Hate to see Lewis retire he was a force.
Agree - the whole Tebow thing was weird- I'm not sure who to blame for that one. Tebow aside I think Sporano is a solid OC - It's not like he was holding Sanchez back. He was handcuffed by the talent around him plus the offense had a lot of newbie coaches. I truly believe he is a sound OC, but as I said Turner and whoever get the "grass is greener and sexier on the other side" benefit
you don't need to be that smart if you can cheat and get away with just a wrist slap from the league. helps to have an influential owner running your team. no asterisks on those trophies, but there should be. :shit:
I think the most blatant example and problem with Sparano is when Sparano calls the plays and it happened terribly against the Bills. The Jets opened up with 8 straight runs... understandable speaking how they don't trust Mark... The next thing we see is a empty backfield set in the gun... On 2nd and 2!!!!!
