This was pretty much a given based on our 2013 cap.

Yep. This year is going to be the changing of the guard year for linebackers. I don't think Moore will be back. We're going to have to draft linesmen. Slauson will probably be back. Ducasse could probably step into Moore's role. But I think we need to draft both an OT and a OG early in the draft. Keller's value went down, so I think he'll be back. Greene is up in the air but I honestly think we should keep him unless we can magically afford a premier back like Jones-Drew, but I don't see it. I guess looking back at it, our running game wasn't really a big issue late in the year. It started off slow, which is understandable considering the new offensive system and line schemes, but the run was looking really good near the end. We made it to #12 in the league, above average, which is really good considering it wasn't very effective early on. It just wasn't used enough in the later portion, with the passing struggles, IMO. It was abandoned in the Bills game when every single scoring drive we had heavily involved it. Part of me is content sticking with Greene, McKnight and Powell. The big issue is the passing game. You can also add Tebow to the cut/trade list. No way we take on that salary next year. The key to this off season will be getting Sanchez to restructure and take backup salary pay.

keep braylon and the safeties. the rest can go. even slauson and devito. those guys will expect too much. minimum salary guys wont be much worse. and the jets don't have much money to spend. there will likely be a new offensive system to implement so continuity doesn't mean much.

Theres gonna be alot of new faces on defense next year, Bart Scott, Calvin Pace,Eric Smith,Devito,Bryan Thomas are all gonna be outta here time to bring in new faces through free agency and the draft. The only question mark is Sione Pouha... Do we bring him back or try and trade or cut him??? Because Kendrick Ellis if he can stay healthy is a beast. Landry and Bell i want both of them back ,Bell has atleast another year left in him

Pretty much a given. DK should be back but only for what he's actually worth. We're going to need OL up the ass. Moore is gone, and Slauson was ok at best. Ducasse is not an answer for anything. Seems like the only OL we got are Brick and Mangold and ever since Brick got married he's started to suck. I would like to keep DeVito and think he'll be back. Greene can go. Powell is better than he is. Our focus should be locking up Landry this off-season.

I think we need to trade Revis & Sanchez in a package deal to Seattle for Matt Flynn and a 1st round draft pick. Sanchez and Flynn are both getting paid big money so we can swap contracts; I have a feeling Carroll will be able to talk Sanchez into restructuring his deal, our Pass defense was ranked 2nd overall this year without Revis, Rex proved we can do well without him, we can invest money in the offense and maybe get some true pass rushers with the money that would be going to Revis's 3rd contract. This is the only we way we get rid of Sanchez, tie him to a player everyone would want and ship them off as a package deal.

I don't like Flynn, but I'd rather see Cromartie in a trade like this, w/the Jets using the $$$ to sign both Revis & Landry

the jets are dumb, but not dumb enough to trade their best player to get rid of a bad contract that ties them up for a year. the sanchez contract sucks, but it's just one year of pain. that's not worth enough to make them dump revis - i hope. flynn doesn't appear to be the answer. if they were getting a great, can't miss, qb, it might be a good idea.

Good. Most of these guys are old and/or ineffective anyways. Time to get some speed on this team.

If jets release Scott, Pace, E Smith, J Smith and Pouha, they end up with about 40 million in cap space according to nyjetscap.com.

Most teams will use a Franchise tag this year, Jets options seem to be:

Moore or Slausan cost 9.7 million to Franchise, Keller costs 5.9 million to Franchise, Devito costs 8.3, Folk costs 2.9, Greene costs 8.1, Thomas costs 9.5 can't tag Landry

Probably only keep Keller if you tag him. Only guy on the list that does better in the open market without the tag. Probably can cut a deal with anyone else you want to keep. Moore might be the most important, enough holes on the line now. Greene might want to test market but no way you tag him.

    Will be interesting.

Adios Pace. Too bad we didn't let the Dolphins sign you.

Landry needs to to be locked up long term and Bell definatley played well enough to deserve another year.

Now, which had more to do with this? Our amazing DBs or our awful run defense? I mean, our run defense was so bad people chose to rush against us instead of passing. Look at the stats. 495 rushes against for the third most in the league. The other teams only attempted 494 passes against us for the third least in the league. Cromartie played amazing and the rest of the DBs did well, but the difference between our DBs without Revis and our DBs with Revis is huge.

    What?
Combined those cuts save 34,543,332 off of our 2013 number which was already at 142M. That puts us at 107,456,668. The cap is projected at approximately 121M.
That leaves just under 14M in cap space. Add in about $5M that needs to be set aside for draft picks and you have $10M left to sign players. No Idea where you got $40M from

Because his contract is guaranteed I'm not sure if he can agree to a pay cut even if he wanted to. All contracts have to be approved and the players assoc. would never 'approve' any player giving back guaranteed money.

I read somewhere that cutting those guys would leave us $18M under and if you threw in Pouha it would be closer to $22M not counting the money needed for the draft.

Also read that trading Cromartie would free up another $9.9M. Any of that true?
