So, Tebow is for sure gone.

off topic: Didn't see any threads about him officially being gone, don't kill me.

I think we could get a 6th or 7th for him.

Well, if Jacksonville is in the market for him again, they really want him. They could potentially get more than an 6th or 7th for him from Jacksonville. Anybody else though, 6th or 7th tops.

The same needs to be said about Sanchez.

Only the owner wanted him, the FO and coaches wanted no part of him and that hasn't changed. They would be thrilled to get any offer for him at all. Most likely they cut him and then have to suck up another million in dead money but at least it won't be as bad as the 17 million they get saddled with depending on what they do with Sanshit. Go Tanny...

I doubt they get anything in trade. It's not so much the picks, as it is the salary. I think he'll have to clear waivers and sign for less money.

Same reason I think it will difficult to trade Sanchez (although the money is much higher). The Jets are going to have to somehow negotiate a deal to eat part of his salary to trade him. With Tebow, the Jets can release him and be off the hook for his salary.

One thing about the article sticks out,,,,,,,,,,it says that McElroy passed Tebow and gained the coaching staffs confidence -------->yet McElroy was either 3 rd on the depth chart or not dressed at all and inactive ! If what the article states to be true wouldnt it be that McElroy would be the # 2 and Tebow be 3 rd and not dressed for games ?

    Amazing sentence:

"There was also the “Tebowmania” factor. One source described the organization as “frozen with fear” that Tebow would actually excel, creating a quarterback controversy that would wreck Sanchez’s psyche."

I think it has more to do with the sentence I posted about your quote as well as McElroy doing well against the Cardinals but as late as last week Rex stated that Tebow gave them the best chance to win if Sanchez went down.

I think Rex talks so much he confuses even himself.

There is so much stuff in that article that contradicts what the actions of the Jets front office have been this season with regards to who was playing QB, who was dressing, who was deactivated, etc.

The #1 takeaway from that article and from the whole season is that the Jets front office and coaching staff is a Greek tragedy of a mess. Just a total mess.

It's too bad that Ryan and Sparano didn't trust Tebow's "game" results from last year (when he beat both their teams, by the way) and not worry as much about how he looked in practice. If they had, they might be going to the playoffs this year instead of going to sit on the couch at home in a few weeks.

Tebow was reportedly not a great practice player at Florida, either, but Urban Meyer trusted his gut and the game results and gave Tebow his full confidence to get it done, and his confidence was rewarded in spades.

'Humiliated Tebow'? Really? If this were some no name backup instead of Tebow, would he still have been humiliated?

    Personally, it's for the best.

I'm glad I wasn't the only one who read that part and thought "what the fuck?" Doesn't that really tell you all you need to know about Mark Sanchez?

In their defense, the fears were well-founded. He would have been able to win several games that Sanchez lost in the latter part of this season. The Jets actually still have a respectable defense, and the line got better at blocking for the run in the second half.

Rex would have had a repeat of 2011 on his hands -- perhaps not the winning streak, but most likely a playoff appearance by this team.

humiliate is a strong word, but i think when you trade for a guy to be a backup/push your starter... then stick with the starter just to avoid playing the backup, and then skipping over the backup for the 3rd string guy...that is kind of a stomach punch

It is. I've never seen so much energy expended over whether to play a guy. Other teams just go "whatever, next guy up, get out there." The Cardinals have had a freak parade with their three quarterbacks this year.

If Jets are going to have a new OC (or even new HC), should his voice been heard before push Tebow out of town? I am not saying Tebow is good or bad. The whole thing looks like trying to cover somebody's ass.

It's PR in the hype machine. Someone close to Tebow apparently leaked he'll be seeking a way out of New York at the end of the season (and leaks or not, his interview made that quite clear by his "I'll talk about that at the end of the season" answers). And the Jets FO just wants to get its message out of "Oh, yeah? We also want to end it so there!"

Most of the time, teams don't leak their intentions with a player during the season. The Jets FO has become a raging dumpster fire.

Building hospitals overseas for sick kids, driving charity for disabled veterans, founding organizations to help handicap people, tirelessly giving his time to others, spending summers over seas helping build schools, donating his signing bonus to charity....we should all be that hypocritical.
