Jets | Team works out Smoker Mon, 4 Sep 2006 07:13:44 -0700 Rich Cimini, of the New York Daily News, reports free agent QB Jeff Smoker (Chiefs) was among three quarterbacks recently worked out by the team.
I read that too. Why and who is what I want to know. Is this in case Chad's arm goes or is it already going?????
Lets hope that Mangini is just trying out some QB's and getting there numbers so he can call them if Penny goes down.
Don't sound the alarm yet guys. Mangini made it quite clear on draft day, after picking up Clemens that he likes the idea of having four QBs on the roster. Besides, maybe he is thinking the Ramsey experiment is done. (Oh please, dear Lord, make it so.)
Jeff Smoker is not much of an imporvement over Kellen....he doesn't have that much experience, so I would see him being the number 4 guy anyways.
Jeff Smoker isn't that good.... he's been cut by both the Rams and the Cheifs the last 2 years... I'm curious who the other 2 are.... maybe Mike McMahon
One fact that's interesting to note is that Smoker was Charles Rogers' QB at Michigan State. It's possible that Tannenbaum and Mangini were thinking about Rogers...
I don't know much about Smoker, but I'm curious to see how his workout went. I wonder who the other 2 QBs were?
I doubt it. Smoker will be nothing more then a 4th string QB and would never throw to Rogers other then practice. I hope we take a stab at Rogers though.
Any word on who the other try-outs were? I think Bradlee (?) Van Pelt from Denver was released and could be a good prospect.
Brooks just got an extension from Minnesota. They think he might be able to start in the future. http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=2573241
Well they had the opportunity to get some value for him, when he would have been a FA after the season, and we would have lost him for nothing. No way he stayed here to be a fourth stringer behind the likes of Patrick Ramsey.
when he is annonced on sunday, the p.a. system plays " rubber duckie" , his new theme song. :rofl2:
