All off-season I've been discussing the Jets with you fine people and one of the things I believe is that this is a process, necessary things happened year which allowed us to move past Herm the Germ, and put peices in place for a super bowl run down the road. Being a perrenial playoff team is basically being the Dolphins of the 90's :finssuck: and I'd rather have one super bowl year and suck for the next 5 then make the playoffs and choke like they did. However I can't help it, I'm really pumped for Sunday and I'm excited for this season even though I know that a "good" year for us is 7-9, 8-8. I mean even you gloom and doomers have to be excited that football is back and the Jets are back even though conventional wisdom is that they are going to be a lousy squad. Am I nuts? Pathetic? Or just plain stupid?
lets face it...your a JET fan. I am too and i feel the exact same way you do...call it stupid, crazy, pathetic, or whatever you feel should be the filler...Im so stoked to see what the Jets can do, because on any given sunday, any team can beat any team, and this Jets team that we feel will be overacheiving if they reach 8 wins can turn out to be the surprise that noone could have predicted...I want the Jets to do well so badly,(knowing deep down inside they probably wont) and i want nothing more then to watch them light up the Titans on Sunday (again which they probably wont, although a win is possible), and show some promise for the season. (one can always dream, right?) and im sure like me, many of you will have a hard time sleeping sunday night, like we are little children awaiting Christmas morning...thats just the way it is for me and nothing really every changes that saturday night of the year...heres to a brand new football season!!! CHEERS!!!
I'm excited football's back and I expect the Jets to win somewhere from 6 to 8 games. It'll be fun watching that and watching the young guys start to develop. If we go 5-11 and see some real progress that'll be okay too. 4-12 with Chad at QB the whole way is going to leave me a grouchy camper.
im a darksider for sure, but im fuckin pumped up big time....what you sunshiners dont understand is that come sunday us darksiders are rootin just as much as you guys.....we just are more miserable than you on monday
I want the Jets to go to the playoffs this year, and having seen some of the impossible feats I've seen around the league I know that and more is just as possible as any other unlikely scenario. I am going to root for that to happen. However, I know the reality of the situation as well and am not going to allow myself to be duped into cloud-heading it anymore.
I would be surprized if we didnt win 7 games IF and its a big if Chad plays the ENTIRE season. If he plays 8-12 games like I think he will, I see 6-10 coming our way if the defense can gel. I refuse to believe the Jets can go 4-12 again. Barring any injuries other than Penningtons, I believe this rebuilding team is way better than the injury plagued team in the middle of last year.
Fella's Have faith..In Tangini we trust..I'm feelin 9 to 11 wins..you read it here FIRST -Now we're playing with live ammo-
I'm predicting one win. That's it. One win. I can't be let down. Seriously, I still see 4 wins for us this year. For the first time in my life though, that's enough for me. I love what this organization has done so far, and I am excited about the future. I'll take the high draft pick next year, we need a feature running back anyway.
I don't know one win is seting the bar kinda high. I want the jets to win every year.My expectations are not high. I would like to see chad have a good injury free season and the jets to muster up some kind of ground game.
we could actually win as many as 8 games, if we could start someone with a real arm at qb. i'd rather take my chances with clemmens or ramsey.
I dont know about that. Us sunshiners truly think we have a chance to win, which is a bigger let down in the end.
LMAO....comon Alio i know you can have a little more faith then that! sigh....i really dont know what to expect...my jet green blood inside me thinks the jets can still muster out a good season, but the realist in me see no more then 7 wins...im torn between 2 worlds really i really have to stop reading these posts before i log in...i keep reading stuff that isnt filtered out...like mrnyjet's noodle arm crap...
Yes, I would much rather see Clemens get thrown into the fire, with a porous OLine, to assure that his career is very short. Makes sense to me! Or better yet, let's have Ramsey throwing 40 yard picks! That would be so much fun. Or we can suffer just watching old noodle arm throwing accurate 10-15 yard passes, and actually leading us downfield.
In all honesty, I see 4-5 wins. I had said 4 wins all offseason, and the only game at this point I have possibly changed my mind about is Tennessee. I didn't think we could beat them before, but since their QB situation is a mess, I figure we have a very good shot to take it this weekend.
How about some positive energy from the fans..You sound like a bunch of whinney Red Sox fans before they got over the 80 year hump..We have been competitive in every pre season as far as first team goes..our defense is very good and our specialties were very good..The offense is always behind in the preseason..I'm tellin you your all in for a surprise.
I don't see any bad energy here. At most, there is some standoffishness. I think I was probably the most negative, and it was all sarcastic. We're Jets fans. We always hope for (expect) the best. We know in the back of our heads something will probably go terribly wrong. In January, we will all be discussing who we should draft. It's a vicious cycle. I think some sunshiners are expecting too much. People keep saying the Jets will surprise everyone. While they will probably surprise me, I am only expecting 4 wins, so my bar is low to begin with. People thinking we are going to win 9 or better are probably setting themselves up for disappointment. (This is one of those times I would love to be proven wrong, I just don't think it will happen.) (I'm not a darksider, nor am I a sunshiner. I usually lean more towards sunshine, but I'm trying to not get my hopes up this year, and put unfair expectations on a team trying to put together the pieces for the future this year.)
Don't worry you won't be let down....This team is gonna suprise everyone...I see atleast a 9-10 win season!!!!Lets get ready for some football. Jets 24 Tenn 10 Jets 1-0
Six wins seems okay if we stay healthy and a few players emerge. Somehow I don't think I'll be too miserable after losses this year because I'm not expecting much. But considering this team in such a transition, I'd almost rather go 3-13 than go 7-9 and miss the playoffs just for the better draft positions.
