If texans win next week they lock up #1 seed since pats lost last night.....this means they will have nothing to play for against week 17 against colts.....Meaning if colts do lose this week to chiefs they will most likely win to the texans...... Best best is Giants must win vs ravens to make them play vs bengals for division week 17 and bengals win against steelers next week and lose to the ravens. I do not see the browns beating the steelers in week 17 so if steelers win next week it may be over.
This is still not true. Either of the Ravens or Steelers beats us out at 9-7 and the Colts still have to lose to a 2-12 team with the playoffs on the line. I make the Jets odds at getting in on a win out no better than 50/50,
I really think they will.....Chargers looked like shit at home, Bills got blown out, if we win tonight we win out
agreed. i think its actually more likely we lose out. i just hope we win tonite, so that at least i can have 1 more week were we are actually potentially playing for something. of all the games left, i think this will be the toughest. monday night on the road. titans will be fired up im sure. just hope rex is playing this to one to win. and has a quick hook with mark if he struggles. here on out our season is literally on the line.
I don't think there is a path into the playoffs with the Jets at 8-8 at this point. I think the Fins can still make it at 8-8 and the Steelers can still make it at 8-8 but the tiebreakers in an 8-8 finish force the Jets out.
What i meant was... assuming Jets finish 9-7 in all scenarios: 1) Bengals 9-7, Steelers 9-7, Colts 10-6 Do the Jets get in? 2) Steelers 9-7, Bengals 8-8, Colts 10-6 Do the Jets get in 3) Bengals 9-7, Steelers 9-7, Colts 9-7 Do the jets get in?
1. We don't make it. Steelers beat the Bengals again to get to 9-7 they eliminate the Bengals in the divisional tie-break (head to head) and then the Jets (head to head). 2. We don't make it. Steelers eliminate us (head to head). 3. We do make it. Steelers eliminate the Bengals (head to head) and we eliminate the Colts (head to head).
That's EXACTLY what I am thinking. We need the Ravens/Bengals playing for the division in week 17.Problem is, not sure of Ravens can beat anyone.
Playing a winnable game on Monday Night Football with 2 games to go and still in the playoff hunt is A LOT MORE than any of us felt after the Turkey Day Drubbing and the hands of the hated Pats. Enjoy the 'feel good' week to week as the season plays out. CAN'T WAIT!!!!
I think you are wrong from everything ive read and using this: http://espn.go.com/nfl/playoffs/machine we make it in scenario 1. are you sure on that?
Ok, so playing with the playoff generator, here are all the most common scenarios: Assuming the Jets finish 9-7 Scenario 1 Bengals 9-7 Steelers 9-7 Colts 10-6 Jets are in! Scenario 2 Bengals 9-7 Steelers 9-7 Colts 9-7 Jets are in! Scenario 3 Bengals 9-7 Steelers 8-8 Colts 9-7 Jets are in! Scenario 4 Bengals 8-8 Steelers 9-7 Colts 9-7 Jets are in! Scenario 5 Bengals 9-7 Steelers 8-8 Colts 10-6 Jets are out Scenario 5 Bengals 8-8 Steelers 9-7 Colts 10-6 Jets are out Scenario 6 Bengals 9-7 Steelers 8-8 Colts 10-6 Jets are out Scenario 7 Bengals 8-8 Ravens 9-7 Steelers 9-7 Colts 10-6 Jets are out Basically: -if the ravens dont win the division, we are screwed. -We need the Bengals and Steelers to both be 9-7 OR the colts to lose out
I'm looking at the link with all the options set to produce Bengals 9-7, Steelers 9-7, Colts 10-6 and the Jets aren't in. Here's the problem for the Jets in the scenario. The Ravens have already clinched a playoff spot if they lose out. If the Steelers win out and the Ravens lose out the Steelers are divisional champs and the Ravens are the wildcard. The Bengals get eliminated by the Ravens and the Jets only positive tie-breaker goes in the process. If the Ravens go 1-1 and the Steelers win out to get to 9-7 then the Ravens are divisional champs and the Steelers are the wildcard. The Bengals get eliminated by the Steelers and the Jets only positive tie-breaker goes in the process.
Steelers/Bengals tie at 9-7 goes to the Steelers. If the Colts have 10 wins at that point the Jets are out.
In the first scenario 5, the Jets get in over the Bengals due to a better conference record. I honestly think that's the best route.
if bal goes 1-1 they are 10-6 and Pitt cannot win division. Bal still plays Cincy Cincy still plays Pitt so 2 of the 3 are guaranteed a loss(nless they tie of course). I think I goofed though, I forgot Pitt is 7-7 now so I did it w/ them losing a game. They have to win out to get to 9-7 so if us, Cincy and Pitt are 9-7(and indy 10-6) Pitt would get the final WC berth.
Yeah, the Steelers loss to the Cowboys helped the Jets overall chances but it removed any possibility that the Bengals could eliminate the Steelers in a 9-7 tie, since the Bengals can no longer beat the Steelers and still wind up tied with them at 9-7. The chances the Steelers wind up 8-8 went through the roof with that loss to the Cowboys though. They may very well not be around to eliminate the Jets if the Jets win out.
Cincy beats Pitt, Bal beats Cincy. let's make it easy:grin: actually, let's just get a W tonight so all this discussion isn't a waste of time(any more than any of this stuff is).
