Who are reasonable and needed FA's we can go after ? Let's name LEGIT possibilities, no pie-in-the-skies. I'll start off with someone who could help us and stick it to Belichick, too: Richard Seymour. Gonna be cut by Oakland, $12 MM this year, can probably get him at half that next year. He is still teed off at Belichick for trading him. Could help our DL and might get him on the cheap; he'd love playing in NY and for Rex, too.
Everything depends on who we re-sign. It's hard to speculate when we don't know if Greene or Keller will be on this team next year, for example.
We have Pouha (solid), Coples (gonna be a stud), Devito (solid), and Wilkerson (stud), and you want to waste cap space on ANOTHER D-lineman?????? We need a journeyman QB, some LB depth, and maybe a running back if we don't draft one early. We are SET in the secondary, d-line, and left side of the offensive line.
Any Free Agent the Jets need to or will be signing will be anyone who is, at minimum, not the best (or highest paid for that offseason) at any given position. This team can't afford to overpay. Having said that, there's no way I'd advocate the Jets signing a DLineman, we just spent our last 2 first rounders there and this draft is stacked with DE/DT. I hope the Jets draft interior O-Line or BPA taking need into account with their first pick. Expect the Jets to sign players out of free agency where the depth is most shallow (at least 1 LB, 1 S, 1 RB or TE or WR, and 1 O-Lineman).
If you're going to play teeth destroying, face ripping off, power football, you best have the O-line to do it, and right now the Jets don't. I would start looking at the most tough nosed O-linemen out on the market in 2013. If you think that is better found in the draft, then use free-agency to search for a serviceable running back/wide receiver or a passable linebacker.
If the list I've got up now is accurate, there are some decent WR's on the market. Jennings from Green Bay, Wallace from Pittsburg, Cribbs from the Browns, Danny from the Rams, Bowe from the Chiefs, and Ogletree from the Cowboys. Problem is, what are the chances the Jets can make any of those guys fit into a reasonable cap number? I'm sure that is just a list of the top guys coming out though. As for the current receiver core, honestly, and just in my opinion, I think it works if you don't plan on making the passing game the biggest element of your offense. I think those guys can get you the occasional 4-6 yards, and the rare 10+, with the right QB at the helm.
danny amendola - a guy like him with great hands would be pretty valueable delanie walker - solid blocker and decent reciever dashon goldson - we need safety help
You think? I actually rather like Landry and Bell. With our corners they are perfect because they make receivers hesitate to go over the middle. We really need an OLB
well we havent been destroyed by TE's this year but bell is old and needs to be replaced love landry though hope we lock him up longterm
I think he is yea. How about Cribbs from the Browns? I don't know much about him, can't remember the last time I sat down and paid attention to the Browns.
True. Goldson would be VERY expensive though, I'm sure we could get a solid journeyman to fill in there. Maybe Ronde Barber or Jairus Byrd. Great athlete, Brad Smith-like. "meh" receiver though.
Stephen Jackson might be let go by the rams, he is still a beast and might have 1 and maybe 2yrs left.
