Manti Te'o say hello to Oakland.

Officially still a Raider, Rolando McClain says he’s done in Oakland

Officially, Rolando McClain is still a member of the Oakland Raiders. But after he missed practice today for reasons that weren’t fully explained, McClain wrote on Facebook that he’s done in Oakland.

McClain later deleted his Facebook updates, but for a time on Wednesday afternoon he had posted messages including “Officially no longer an Oakland Raider!!” and “I’d like to be anywhere besides here.”

It is not correct for McClain to say that he is officially no longer a Raider — he hasn’t been placed on waivers, which is what the Raiders would have to do if they wanted to get rid of him. It is possible that someone on the Raiders’ coaching staff or in the front office told McClain they’re getting rid of him, although the team has made no public statements indicating such a move, and McClain’s agent Pat Dye told Mike Garafolo of USA Today, “I have not been notified of any change in his status.”

McClain has been a starter in Oakland since the Raiders took him with the eighth overall pick in the 2010 NFL draft. Off the field, McClain recently got some good news when gun charges were dropped against him. On the field, McClain’s poor play has been one of the reasons the Raiders have one of the worst defenses in the NFL

He sucks, and has more guns than the local Swat Team.

He's been arrested multiple times, we don't need more drama.

    Exactly.

And Yeah I called Te'O to OAK for 1-2 months...this just further cements it. When Romanowski calls you out for being soft then uh oh. OAK would make him a top 5 pick I feel.

Pray they take the player with the fastest 40 time at that spot.

Also in terms of McClain, I would want him only if he comes at the league min.

Jets should definitely look into getting Rolando, them trade Harris. We'll start next year with new young and quick ILBs and without Harris' huge contract. Don't know about you guys but I would really like to see a pair of Rolando and Davis next year.

Sorry, but I actually would hope the JETS look into signing this guy.
A very cheap 1 year deal. ILB position in the 3-4 D. Release Bart Scott immediately.
I still am unsure where Demario Davis fits in on this D. I see him more as an OLB in the 4-3. People say he is Bart Scott's repalcement, but I just dont see Davis as the guy to take on the guard or lead fullback role.

Davis and Scott are playing at about the same size this year. Not sure what makes you think he can not handle being an ILB in the 34. He has played well when seeing time, but Rex seems to stick with his vets even as they degrade right before outr very eyes. Not getting the young guys in more is my biggest complaint against him.

    Rolando McClain released by Raiders

Oakland Raiders linebacker Rolando McClain has been informed by the team that he will be released on Thursday, a source told ESPN.com's John Clayton.

McClain, the eighth overall pick in the 2010 draft, was held out of practice Wednesday because of an undisclosed team-related issue.

Coach Dennis Allen would give no more information about why he held McClain out. Allen said he did not know if McClain would practice Thursday.

McClain reportedly wrote on his Facebook page he no longer was a Raider, then deleted the post.

McClain has struggled under Oakland's new coaching staff, and has had his playing time sharply reduced in recent weeks. McClain's best year with the Raiders came in 2011, when he registered 99 tackles and five sacks.

Information from The Associated Press was used in this report

I'd be all about this one. He's young and still has upside. Tanny should pounce on this guy. Our LBs need quickness!

Some of you guys are losing your minds.

McClain is a walking time bomb, he's mentally unstable and all he cares about is guns and hanging with his posse back home.

McClain's game is in the shitter, he's beyond terrible.

The Jets don't need another clown to add to the circus, they have a few too many now that need purging.

As if Tone was not enough...

Now we need a time bomb ticking away on the defensive side of the ball too?

    Wake up people.

For the umpteenth time, let me give you what makes a good prospect/candidate:

    1. has to be big.
    2. has to be quick/fast
    3. has to be smart
    4. has to have right mental attitude.

If he produced well in college, that's a bonus, but all in all, these four criteria are the must-pass test for any good candidate.

McClain fails at #3 and #4 miserably. Fuck him. Give that thought a rest.

    That was 2012's draft.

Currently, the Raiders have the 3rd pick.

What about signing him and let him play the rest of the season here as sort of an audition.

    It doesn't make any sense.

We have Harris and D Davis is getting more and more PT.

Bringing in Vet retreads has gotten this team in trouble.

The Jets are only going to improve drafting good players and developing them...like Davis, Kerley.....
