If the Jets were to lose out and get, for example, a top 5 pick, I'd love to see them trade it away for multiple picks. Maybe a late 1st and an additional second, etc. I think that would be a better way to fill all the depth issues they have.
Oh, none at all, especially with their recent picks. I'm thinking multiple picks gives them a better chance at filling depth and getting a few guys to pan out. I'd have more faith in that as opposed to them taking the high pick and watching him tank. Obviously, they could draft a game changing, world beater that early, but I have no faith in their ability to do that. Plus, there are just so many holes to fill on the roster and they won't have the $$ to plug it with big free agents next year. I'm with you though. No guarantees either way.
exactly...this is why i dont want my team to tank esp since no world beater running backs, WRs, DEs, or even qbs are coming out next year.
That, and while I think it could ultimately be better for them as an organization, I just can't root for them to lose.
Good post...I see you winning 4 of the 5...not sure which team will beat you but I expect one let down.
comp percentage bottom line though is sanchez is last in the league in comp perc. missing all those throws on 3rd downs really hurts. Thats what pennington was so good at. he kept drives alive with key 3rd down completions. gmac looks like a pennington clone, super smart, super accurate, short arm. what do we have to loose at this point? Last in AFC east already.
Pennington had Santana Moss/Laveranues Coles/Jerricho Cotchery. McElroy would have Stephen Hill and Mardy Gilyard.
why does everyone assume gmac is gonna be amazing and that he's so smart? he's never gone up against legitimate starters. Regardless, if Sanchez turns the ship around and gets us to the playoffs i will do laps around my dorm hall naked.
The giants won there division last year at 9-7. It is so hard to win out and get a wild card at 9-7. Again the year before the giants won there division at 9-7 and the SB. They missed the playoff's at 10 - 6 and the seahawks won there division at 7-9 . Remember tom coughlin was like " We should not be ashamed to be 10-6". My point is that 9 -7 is not likely a WC.
None, but with our limited cap space we won't be able to improve through any means but the draft for the next two seasons. My question is why end the season on a high note when it means A) lower picks and less likely impact and B) just will taste worse when we're losing again next season. We have far too many holes, and more coming. We're most likely losing at least on guard, 1 possibly 3 linebackers, possibly our best reciever in Keller, possibly both our starting Safeties, our leading rusher over the past 2 seasons. And that's just off the top of my head.
On what basis do you have to say this? Do you know how accurate "G-Mac" would in fact have to be to be a "Pennington Clone?"
We'll probably lose to the cardinals (#7 overall defense). We'll probably lose to the Chargers, they always play well at the end of the season. The Bills will be dangerous because they won't have forgotten getting embarrassed at the start of the season and be out for revenge, and I can see the Jets being unfocused with nothing to play for. The Jags we should beat. The Titans are a toss up.
at this point id rather be 4 - 12 giving us good draft position and leading to changes. btw OP its resurgence not resergence.
we could very well win all 5 games, but I hope we don't. if we finish 9-7, nothing will be done. I want Tannenbaum gone, and a 9-7 season isn't going to do that.
The Cadinals are awful and riding a 7 game losing streak. There's nothing they do better than us offensively, which is mind boggling, and now they're playing on the road with a rookie QB who threw 4 INTs at home against the Rams last week. For the record, they are dead last in passing YPA and their 3.6 YPA on the ground puts them tied for 29th ... a little worse than our 3.8 YPA. They've given up the most sacks in the NFL by a wide margin, and they've only scored a pathetic 180 points all year ... 31st in the league. Defensively the two teams are pretty much statistically equal, but I think our offfense has a much better chance of scoring against them, than they have against us. On paper this is a team we should be able to handle. You know the only thing that worries me about this game? The Law of Averages. How many games can you possibly lose in a row?? ... and they have @ Seattle, Detroit, Chicago and @SF after us. It's hard to imagine they could lose 12 straight to end the season. Sooner or later the ball has to bounce their way, and that scares the crap out of me ... especially since our QB loves to give the ball to the other team. GOD, I wish we had a better quarterback!
This is a article from nj. Com today. It summarizes the luxury Sanchez has and why every qb should be jealous of him.... Enjoy the reading .... Hill has 16 catches this season for 212 yards and three touchdowns. He had three catches for 16 yards against the Patriots. The Jets are thin at wide receiver right now with Hill and Jordan White as the only healthy ones on the roster and Hill as the only healthy one to make a catch for them this season. Jeremy Kerley is banged up, bothered by a hamstring and a heel injury, along with an illness that will leave him limited in practice. Chaz Schilens and Clyde Gates both suffered concussions in the loss to the Patriots. The Jets signed Mardy Gilyard and Ryan joked that he'll start Sunday. "We hope Chaz can come back," Ryan said. "We’ll see as the week goes on about Gates. We have enough guys. Kerley has the illness. ... Again, we’ll see how (Hill), how he progresses, how Jordan White progresses during the week as well."
