I agree. And it didn't sound to me like Tanny had thought carefully about what he was going to say or if he did, he's just too cocky to ever think that his BS spin wouldn't work. About 1000 of my posts at this site have come from bashing fatty, so I hate the guy as much as anyone. But he's an influential guy locally and nationally the interview resonated. Guys like Rich E. were talking about it on NFL network. The jets and Tanny's credibility took a big hit after that interview.
After scrambling to buy tickets off stubhub & changing Thanksgiving plans to make the Jets game, I know I'm not attending any more games this season. I'll wait a few games next season before attending a game also - just to make sure Jets are gonna play games seriously. Not like this season where they seem to fold up & quit before the 4th quarter rolls around every other game.
no fucking shit. you see, when you are winning it reflects that the decisions you are making are working. when you are losing it reflects that the decisions you are making are not working. how in the hell does the hypothetical that if they were winning there would be no controversy have anything to do with the fact that they are not winning, meaning they are not making smart decisions and are being criticized accordingly? we can play that stupid game all day. if the Jets were 10-0 and had the highest scoring offense in the league nobody would be criticizing Sanchez. see how irrelevant that is to what is actually occurring?
Because Tanny is not going to come out and say "your right Mike, Mark Sanchez just isn't any good" or "Stephen Hill drops everything thrown his way" or "Bart Scott, Calvin Pace, and Bryan Thomas are old and slow". He has to dance around the problem with his team because he can't take shots at his own players like somebody in Francescas position can. What TBTF said that I agree with is he shouldn't be talking about how some of the games came down to a play or two because nobody wants to hear that at all after they get knocked around by the opponent. Everyone knows the team is bad, I hope Rex and Tannenbaum and more importantly Woody know the team is bad. So hopefully they fix the severe lack of talent on this roster.
My post in that regard was in reference to Rex Ryan talking about Tim Tebow and whether or not he could or couldn't play with his rib injury. I should have clarified that. I'm not talking about other issues on the team like slow LB's, crappy receivers, a poor O-Line, and a shitty QB. Those are clearly the result of bad personal decisions or sticking with some players for to long which is Rex and Tannenbaums fault.
If you had told me before the season started that at some point I would be reading about... I would have been confused and upset. And sure enough. I am.
I like fat rex who didnt give a fuck what he said to the media a lot better than skinny rex who tries to spin everything (and fails)
Yep. But the difference will be structural this time. There should be a new leadership team in place and that in itself will be an improvement. If the team acknowledges that, the fanbase will allow for several years of steady improvement and support the team as long as they see the progress. Stagnation is not the answer and continuity only works when you have a solid blueprint to build on. Building on losses is like building your home on a sandy shifting base. You might get lucky, then again you might not. The Jets issues are as much managerial as they are operational. They need new leadership in Upper Management and to be honest, Rex needs a break from being a HC to re-evaluate how he goes about his craft. He's one helluva DC but he needs more balance. This is the wrong market for a bigmouth that can't deliver because the media and the fanbase will call him out on it before very long. Sometimes you need to take corrective action immediately instead of waiting on a different set of results to come from the same actions. You have to recognize that if you're not improving, you're falling behind. You also have to know your market and its pain tolerance. If you ignore all of that, you're writing your own epitaph.
Woody is counting every red cent that's coming into the coffers and yeah, he'll take notice PDQ when those numbers start to drop. I would imagine his advertising revenue can make up the slack but for every empty seat, there's a corresponding numbers drop somewhere along the line in the form of lost swag, concession and ticket sales. The effect might well carry over next season as the Jets, if they continue playing like this, can't charge the same for advertising time as the product on the field deteriorates. I would imagine there's a cascading effect from diminished attendance. I don't know exactly what those numbers are but they will certainly be significant especially taking into account how much Woody probably is still in the hole on his part of the Stadium financing.
Yeah here's the direct link: http://www.newyorkjets.com/photos-a...rself-Up/e1ad89fd-d2f2-4224-b974-69e16716fea4 I listened to it last night and it's pretty much as bizarre as they made it sound.
