Watching Hill drop a pass, Mark failing to take a step up in the pocket, D'Brick not understanding his job on a fg.. So many little things, I mean just look @ Kyle Wilson. He runs a mile a minute and goes nowhere. Constantly running in place wasting steps and has no Hip movement... and don't get me started on him defending the gunner...ugh... While these guys are not a full on "busts" I think this says more about our player development than anything else... Our QB's, WR's and O-Line sometimes show such a lack of play that fall under "101 technique" it makes you wonder who the fk is coaching during practice... They always say "We had a great week of practice" then come out and do the biggest bone head shit you have to question what they are watching in practice!
once upon a time all of those things were taught in pop warner and high school. no longer, its a shame that nfl coaches have to go over simple things like make sure you dont let the guy run free and block the kick. or... catch the ball with your hands. however i have to wonder wtf is going on in practice every day when things like this continue to occur.
this organization is atrocious at least two things: 1. Developing young talent 2. Putting our players in a position to succeed
At least all of these things mentioned above have been somewhat showing here and there ever since Rex came onboard, in various degrees... but what I'm seriously worried about, something's that's only been really glaring at you in this season, is the massive inability to tackle. As we signed Landry, I'd never think (if he was going to be healthy) I'd sit and say he's a shitty tackler. Maybe shitty is the wrong way to describe it, as he pops people every now and then - what I mean is that he's unreliable as ****. It should be in the DNA of a safety to be a trustworthy tackler - that's the 1, 2 and 3 on your to-do-list. Someone has to tell Dirty 30 that diving tackles isn't cutting it, just wrap them up ffs. And don't get me started on Kyle... I bet he's struggling with taking out houseflies. Glad to have him as a CB otherwise, just an atrocious tackler. All in all, I just can't remember ever being this alarmed with poor tackling in the previous seasons. ------------ Either way, fucking sweet with a win tonight! (Trying to put some light onto my whine post here)
The only real stars the Jets have right now are Revis and Mangold and both of those guys were very good when they first hit the field and great within a year or two. This front office and coaching staff do a horrible job of bringing out the best in their players. The only reason we didn't see this years ago is that they relied so heavily on veteran free agents.
This is bullshit. 'developing young talent'. fuck that. isn't that what pop warner, high school, and 3-4 years in college is supposed to do? by the time a player gets to the nfl he's been 'coached' for 15-20 years. play damit!!!!!
Pop Warner, High School and College are not the NFL. Different games require learning and adjustment. The coaching has to get much better at each level or the players being taught will drop off and vanish.
They are trying to do more ball stripping to create turnovers. Its a technique the vaGiants used and Rex seemed to be incorporating it. Unfortunately, miss3ed tackles are the risk you take when trying to strip out the ball on every play. While I hate seeing those missed tackles, I appreciate the aggressive style Rex is imploring of trying to get the ball back.
they were talking about byron leftwich and his HORRIBLE throwing motion. he told them he never realized he had a poor motion until someone showed him video of it either in college or the nfl. pop warner coaches arent football coaches anymore, they are dads who follow their kids through the ranks. high school coaches see the best kid on the team and dont dare correct anything he does because the kid will go "move" to another town or change schools. college seems the same way. its the typical hes the best player he couldnt be doing anything wrong. just like the reason half of them have a hard time reading at 8th grade levels.
Hill has to catch the football. He is a wide receiver in the NFL. Catching the football is necessary and essential to his trade. We might have to put him in the port a potty and run the drill where you open the door and fire a football at him. Anyways, just blitz Brady all day long.
The drill is really effective when they remove the toilet seat cover from the toilet and make the guy fish the football out of the shit if he drops it and it goes in.
I'm sorry, but I can't recall seeing a single strip ball attempt the last couple of games, what I do see is poor tackling. When opposition RBs seem to break 2-3 tackles every other run and pick up 5+ yards after contact, something is fundamentally wrong. A good ball stealer still wraps up his guy while trying to strip the ball. Landry's diving tackles is unforgivable in my books, and others on the D have started doing it too now.
