1. Terrible new OC, he should've been fired at the bye 2. Diminished talent on offense at every position since 2009 3. Regressing QB 4. A head coach who has the shine coming off and probably lost the locker room last year, this stuff lingers and coaches typically can't get it back.
Mark Sanchez What did we give up to get him again? A number 1 and a number 2. Plus depth from our bench. Then a massive contract to a guy that only had 10 starts in college. Then an extension. We sacrificed so much so and in return got the worst QB in the league. Others factors: Our HC cant evaluate raw talent to save his life. Our owner runs our team like a tobacco company
this nails it. i would add that rex is so hell bent on winning the same way the ravens did that the offense has become an after thought. 2nd thing is they (f.o./c.s) did not commit to developing a franchise qb. it is inexcusable that a 1st round pick has not been spent on that side of the ball in the last 3 years. when you draft a qb as high as mark was you must commit to drafting the pieces he needs. they did nothing for him.gave him crumbs.late round draft picks, project picks and a revolving door of wr's basically we are here because the vision of the way this team would win was flawed and a long shot of becoming reality
Top5 drafted QB, o ly now are they surrounding him with talent. Keller would not be overrated, if we had one more guy on the outside. Holmes was a madden mistake. If the current crop was Hill,Kerley,Keller, PLAX as a possession receiver, and they got a RT (Howard may yet pan out, but he ain't there yet) Plus, they put up with Schitty too long, and the early season injuries robbed them of any cohesiveness. With a weak schedule, if they can beat NE, they. An be this years giants. Ellis didn't play last weekend, and we are still without the best defensive player in football.
It's fuckin hilarious to watch people bash Sparano after years of bashing Schottenheimer and Hackett. Can we just stop blaming the OC for our shitty fuckin depth chart?
It's easier to bash people right in front of you than to bash people who should be right in front of you but are not because the Jets could not find them. It's a lot easier to say Tony Sparano sucks as a play-caller than to say Marshall Faulk-clone1 isn't here to get 5 yards on that 1st down play instead of the 2 that Shonn Greene picked up It's a lot easier to say Kyle Wilson sucks as a CB than to say Jared Allen-clone1 isn't here to get real pressure on the QB on that 31 yard TD pass where the QB had 4.5 seconds to line it up and let it go (again.) It's a lot easier to say Mark Sanchez sucks than... Well, the system is not perfect in all regards but if Larry Fitzgerald-clone1 was at least here to dominate CB's instead of being dominated the Jets offense might look a lot more like the Arizona Cardinals offense which has no QB's on it better than Mark Sanchez. Come to think of it the Cardinals offense *does* look a lot like the Jets current offense. Maybe even having Larry Fitzgerald-clone1 wouldn't help.
It all starts from the VERY top of this franchise. Woody Johnson was too busy "worrying" about the election instead of winning games. ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME? i'm sorry but i don't want to play for somebody that cares about politics more than winning FOOTBALL games! NEXT, Mike T. As much as i used to think of him as a genius, he simply just DID NOT give Sanchez the type of help ANY QB needs with a supporting cast! Our offense is just PATHETIC!!!!
Two people. Woody Johnson and Mike Tannenbaum. Woody for getting Tebow as a publicity stunt and Tanny for not helping this team during the offseason. Time for Tanny to get fired, and Woody to sell the team to someone who will give a damn.
You're going to be waiting a long long time for Woody to sell the team. Maybe we should all buy the team ala Packers.
That's pretty accurate, IMO. I would add in general stuff like "old linebackers that can't tackle" but I guess that still falls under Tanny for not bringing in capable guys. Also, I've said it a thousand times, lack of a legitimate feature back is killing us. I guess that falls under Tanny as well although, in his defence, it's a lot easier said then done to just go get an Arian Foster or Ray Rice or Forte or someone like that. Still, he (or whoever takes over for him if he gets canned) needs to handle that problem asap or next year is going to be much of the same.
Trading draft picks for established vets on short ends of their contracts / careers, which made for a few exciting years but unfortunately missing on a few key draft picks they did keep didn't help fill a void of those guys walking out the door.
I liked shotty's play design, his flaw was he had no clue how to piece together plays to create drives or how to sustain drives, which is the key term in offensive "coordinator". Hackett and Sporano seem cut from the same cloth. No imagination. You could have all the talent in the world, Sporano's play designs are awful and won't succeed.
1. We lost a lot of talent in the 2011 off season. The lockout didn't help, but we lost a pro bowl punter, the best return man in the league and most efficient WC guy, Sanchez' main deep threat Edwards, and Damien Woody. We tried to replace them with fill in talent already on the roster and an aging Plaxico straight out of prison instead of actually addressing the issues. That lost us Cotchery as well. As as result the talent level went down quite a bit and we couldn't afford anything else. Braylon / Cotchery have not been adequately replaced as of yet. Kerley might get there and Hill might get there, but there's too much time in between. 2. The offensive line was completely ignored this off season. I'm not sure why. RT was clearly one of our biggest weaknesses last year and Moore is getting old, yet we decided to stand pat. They didn't do anything until their hand was forced by Wayne Hunter blatantly sucking. Since 2009 & 2010 the talent on the oline has gone downhill big time. 3. Our LBs are old and slow. Besides Demario Davis who is still learning our system, the talent at LB has gone down hill and was not addressed. Harris is a good run stuffer, but he's slow and can't run or cover to save his life. Scott is old, Thomas is old, Pace is old, maybin was the only fast one on the outside and he's done nothing this year. 4. Holmes & Revis, our 2 best players are injured. This year with the draft and off season we need to address the offensive line and outside linebacker. They've been ignored long enough. If we get an early enough pick we could find a difference maker at either position. This year is kind of a transitional year for us. We have a lot of rookies and 2nd year guys starting at key positions. Give us another year and we'll be back.
IMO we need a football guy as GM, an ex player who makes solid football decisions,a complete new scouting department, less over inflated contracts being offered to mediocre players that have achieved nothing and cripple our cap space, stop trading our picks, build through the draft instead of free agency. We need to stop this brash ''look at us mentallity'' we can still be a physical tough ball club and when we are good enough people will talk about us plenty. We don't need this smack talk, trailer trash image of under achieving big mouth fame whores and that image starts with the FO running this joke.
We have been a step late fixing problems after the second AFC championship season and it caught up to us. To compensate for not getting Nnamdi, overpaid Cro. We could have had him for less. Thought replacing Braylon with out of jail Plax was bright and Cro with Mason even brighter. Nobody young to groom behind them, thus a step late getting Hill. Step slow replacing Woody, still haven't done it. Slow replacing the G position. Slow replacing 3rd/blocking back LT was. Slow getting that second LB, young LB and S (both this previous draft). We have rarely been ahead of our problems like the Steelers always are. When you are playing catch up with positions, with less draft picks too, you can't afford misses consistently, which we had, and you can't keep up with the positions to fill. Two/Three main things led to this in my mind: Missing on Gholston. Still don't have a pass rusher to this day. Chasing Nnamdi. Unnecessary, and you have to wonder if this Woody (headline) pushed also. This left us scrambling in FA. In combination with this, not replacing the OL/WR in this same offseason. We could have realistically had Tone, Braylon, and Joseph instead of Cro or Cro if we went early on him. We could have drafted an OL early that draft.
