doesn't really matter as it isn't my call either way. Just think there has got to be something all the Tebow fanatics are missing when they honestly think they will win with Tebow. (As evidenced by their constant slogan of, "Jets rather lose with Sanchez than win with Tebow.) I wasn't actually that far away last year from saying, "go ahead and put Tebow in." We were 1-4, San Diego had like a 2 or 3 game lead already for the division, the Raiders and Chiefs (I believe) were all ahead in the standings. At the time, it became about finding out about the first round pick. Answer that question everyone was asking. They did win some games, I just disagree on the impact he had in that turnaround when a lot of things factored in. Bronco managment must have agreed with me or they wouldn't have bothered with Manning. I mean, if it is true that he was able to motivate the team to change its culture as many love to suggest... then why screw around with a damaged player with questions about his neck, even if it is Manning at the end of his career? Just doesn't make sense to ship that guy off for a 4th rounder unless they see it more like I did and wanted to get rid of the headache before it really got bad. Just saying, if you really want to see Tebow for the rest of the year. that's fine if the Jets decide to do that. But it won't be the same as last year where you will see a sudden 6 game win streak. that streak wasn't all about him last year, and it won't be this year. so if you are going into the next few games with those kinds of expectations, be prepared for disappointment. tebow very well could prove me wrong. He's the only one that will shut me up about him. It won't be some of the guys pining for him with their cherry picked stat sheets and dillusions of pixie dust and happy thoughts hoisting the team to greatness. gotta admit, I LOVE the commentary though. I can't make some of this shit up!!! ...and best of all, these guys ACTUALLY believe that shit!!!
He's falling back on college stats because that's all he has. Next year he'll be doing the same thing. 'Hey guys, look! Here are some college stats because my hero is nothing more than a bench warmer! See how good he is! Look! Look!' It's embarrassing.
What makes you think I was upset that they won games last year? ...and you sure talk a lot about crying. Are you okay? They make meds for that.
So you're saying that if people show you his good stats from the NFL, you'll be more apt to agree? For some reason, I doubt it... You couldn't possibly have an agenda of your own, right?
Again, you are an idiot. http://www.rightwingwatch.org/content/focus-family That is what those of us that live in the 21st century call a hate group. Any group that fights to limit equality for any man or woman, is a fucking hate group. Grow up, and move out of the swamp.
Now your stupidity is even further exposed. Concerned Citizen was talking about the hype surrounding Tebow prior to what he did last year. Here's his statement: Do you not know how to read ? Or is it more of a comprehension problem ?? The college stats explain the hype when Tebow was in college and when he came into the league.
Really ? So groups that are against Pedophilia are "hate groups" ? Focus on the Family is an advocacy group who YOU happen to disagree with. That's fine. To label them a hate group is preposterous.
You'll have to be more specific. Is Sanchez the worst, or is he still not as bad as Jawalrus Russel? Also... I'm not sure what Sanchez or Russel have to do with Tebow's stats...
Your stupidity knows no bounds. You are a simpleton. Focus on the Family is a veiled version of Westboro Baptist Church. Scum, and a hate group. Hate crime: any of various crimes (as assault or defacement of property) when motivated by hostility to the victim as a member of a group (as one based on color, creed, gender, or sexual orientation) Precisely the two groups FotF looks to strip all rights from, because they don't approve of homosexuality or abortion. Now drop it before you embarrass yourself further.
Yeh, I heard these arguments before. He was a pretty good college player wasn't he? (Except Tebow only played like 6% of the plays in the first championship people credit him for winning... some dude named Chris Leak was the QB.) I heard he could pass in college. Hadn't really seen his 66% completion percentage in the NFL though. Only beat the 50% mark once in his 16 starts. But we ALL know that Heisman trophies translate to NFL success... right? errr... now that I think about it, about as many turned out to be busts as there were those that had any success at all. I'm thinking that his college numbers arre more a reflection of the team around him. The Gators were a pretty loaded team. 10 out of the 11 guys he played with were all in the NFL. Spread option also works well in college. Line up 4 WRS, chances are the 3rd and 4th guys on the Gators were FAR FAR FAR better than the 3rd or 4th guys defending them on the other teams. Most of those guys in that spot are selling cars or working at some office cubicle right now? Just toss it up for grabs 9especially when teams are afraid you will run it... you can get away with a LOT in college. NFL though... much faster, timing and precision, making the checkdowns... all of that is key. Running is a bonus in this league, but now when it is your bread and butter. Nope, many feared he wouldn't make the transition to the NFL very well. his own coach in Florida said it would probably take 3 years to get him to NFL passing standards. Know what that tells me? He's more of a project than a first round pick. He's about to complete his third year and neither team he's been on so far have invested much in his development as a passer. the guy that believed in him enough to trade 3 picks to get back into the first round got 3/4 of hte way into the season. The next regime went to a run heavy offense to get through the year when they had 3 shitty QBs to work with. So they didn't spend much time making him a credible QB. Then he goes to the Jets, and we see him running running packages and punt protection. How's that going for his development as a QB? Either the world is just out to get him, or he ain't that good and he and his fans are the last to see it. Most knew better than to just assume he would translate well with his college achievments. I firmly believe a lot of that hype came from his charming personality and charisma. All that stuff "you can't teach" that he was supposed to bring to the table. People adored the kid for many reasons and his popularity was through the roof even by those that never saw him play as a gator. he got a rediculous amount of media attention before he took a snap in practice. Most had him slated as a 3rd rounder? 4th rounder? The ONE guy that wanted him earlier pretty much shredded the team of talent with boneheaded move after boneheaded move.
I guess that's an answer...I guess. But acquiring Manning does not mean the Broncos agree with you. That was an unexpected gift and I count 6 QB's who would not have lost their job to Peyton Manning.
jesus dude, I have seen eggplants in grocery stores that have more sense than you do. By definition, a hate crime has to be a crime. Advocating for or against something isn't a crime. Oh shit, did you really just open up that can of worms ? Anyone against abortion is now a member of a HATE GROUP ? Seriously >? Jesus, you are frakking daft.
I'm not using the stats to prove that he will definitely be a successful NFL QB and a HoF'er. What I'm explaining is why all that hype surrounded him. It's because, in college, he was a freaking beast at QB, both passing and running the ball. I've heard the argument before, from Phaytal, back when he claimed that the Florida sent more players to the NFL draft in some year than any other team ever. That just wasn't the case. IIRC, when he posted it before, I think Alabama had more players drafted. Some of it was the other players. Some of it was the offense being used. And yes, a hell of a whole lot of it was because they had Tim Tebow at QB. I keep hearing about how Spread Offenses won't work in the NFL, but then I look at silly little teams like the Saints, the Pats, and the Packers, all running Spread Offenses. Seems that they are pretty successful with it too Sure, I agree that he was a 3 year project IF your goal was to put him in a "normal" NFL offense, working from under center and passing from the pocket with 3,5 and 7 step drops. However, it he was to work primarily from the shotgun, the time required drops. As for his continued development, what we see in games is Sparano's attempt at a WC package. What you don't see is what kind of work has been put in running the same offense that Sanchez runs. You know, the stuff he was doing in the preseason ? His actual "backup role" ? We don't know what kind of practice time the 2nd team gets each week doing that kind of thing. It's why I laugh when I see people say "We know that Tebow isn't the answer". No, you don't know that he isn't the answer. You THINK he isn't the answer based on his limited role in the offense this year, and what you saw way back in the preseason. Or, Rex and company have tied themselves to Sanchez and can't/won't make the change. Or there are actually salary cap considerations if Tebow takes too many snaps. Yada, yada, yada. His hype was a combination of many things. BUT, you can't discount the fact that he was one of the greatest College QBs EVER, and that's even when it comes to passing the ball. Additionally, his "intangibles" are off the charts, which is something that even his die hard detractors will readily admit. So, the question is, IF he could translate his game to the NFL, WITH those intangibles, it gives him a stupidly high upside and an incredibly high ceiling. THAT is why McDaniels took a chance on him and went up to the first round to do it.
If they organize, raise funds, and openly fight, in groups, to oppose and strip the rights of women and gays away, then yes, they are a part of a hate group. If they do it alone, I would consider them a hateful person, or a bigot. This isn't rocket science here. I know that women in your neck of the woods, or swamp, are probably barefoot and chained to a stove, but over here in the real world, it's a little different.
Still think he was on his way out. Elway was stalking just about any QB worth a salt in college. Any answer to the media was the typical canned answer. In fact, Elway was getting crucified for his lack of committment from many. He didn't just lose his job to Manning, he could have sat on the bench here and learned from the best. Instead they traded him away for a 4th rounder. Basically a jock stap. There were rumors that the waters were being tested for a trade well before the Manning deal, one article had it taking place as far back as the scouting combine. That tells me, "get him outta here!!!" My opinion. They didn't want to deal with him as he was too far behind the curve in the passing game. They also didn't want to deal with the circus surrounding him. didn't make sense having 2 playbooks either, cuz no way in hell was Tebow going to be able to run a Manning style offense. Woulda had to have been the wild-cat run option (mostly) similar to what the Jets do in his limited appearances.
Don't know or care about how many Alabama sent. My point was, the team surrounding him certainly did not suck. It was stacked compared to most of the teams they saw. That's gonna make him look pretty good. He probably was one of the best college players ever. Debatable. If only he could have made a career out of it. If I were asked to build a college team, there's no question he'd be my first choice. but that career has NOTHING to do with his NFL career. NFL is a different animal.
